Your room looks wondeful, crazy and beautiful - I think your patience with experimenting and evolving this living space pays off - I go with jessnjules that your result with the wall is an inspiration! So as suggested, trust your own style and processes while testing out what others suggest - eg stick with your character loaded brown timber - sometimes all the rules just don't apply - we can get lovely effect from mishmash - if I walked into that room, I would would want to settle in and enjoy your company.

Just a little update. The space is still evolving, still a jumble of styles.. And I still love the stencil feature wall! These days the house is never tidy enough to take photos of, though, and as you can see the only photos I have feature the cause of all the mess. We repurposed the pallet coffee table, it is now out in the garden holding succulents. I have a tan couch that I don't think matches with anything but we're just making do with it for the time being.

Funny you bumped this thread, I am halfway through replacing my dining suite (as in I have the chairs but haven't managed to get to ikea for the table I want). It couldn't be more different from the existing one! I'll post a picture when it's set up... I think it will work to tie the room together as a cohesive area. Watch this space!

Thanks everyone! The gamble of buying bright yellow chairs has paid off, I think. Yes Ann B, we're planning on selling very shortly. We still have some work to do out in the backyard and need to do a few more things to properly 'dress' the house before we start, but it will all be happening pretty soon (with any luck). Then I can start all over again, hahah.

Hi, your home looks pretty good, you have done a lot on the interiors. Coming back to the question, yes, you can add a wallpaper behind the television, go for a textured wallpaper as it will create a compliment to your television. As you have decorated with wooden elements, you can go with a bookshelf on the wall. And, there is one more thing which will be a simple addition but will look perfect and that is an antique wall clock. An antique wall clock will make your wall look great without any fuss.
