What do other Houzzers think of my lounge room colour scheme?
Comments (82)Ok, don't like the dark cushion, don't like the TV in the bedroom. You could go for pendant lighting using the same 'material' as the mirror? If you went for larger beside lamps while you have that mirror there, they would be fighting each other. In the programs I watch, they say to have 'a hero in the room'. In this case the mirror is the hero I think. Also the extra throw cushion for the bed could match one on the chair, so it ties in (or don't have one at all on the bed). If you did need a TV what about having one installed on the wall to the right of the chair,(looking at the photo) and make sure it can swivel out, so when you aren't watching TV in bed it can be against the wall, out of the way. Then you can have a lovely (glass) ornament or two, or a bunch of flowers sitting on it along with your photos. I love how you have your bed dressed, spot on! (without the dark cushion) I absolutely adore the blue shades in the duvet cover and I would draw those out into the room. Love that you have opened up your windows in the lounge. Maybe a throw rug and some colourful (same colours as in the duvet cover on your bed) cushions on the lounge suite as nothing is really popping! There doesn't seem to be any colour except for the flowers and the photos. Colourful paintings on the wall would be lovely too. Maybe the potted plants could be in coloured (as in your duvet cover) pots instead of white. I know you weren't asking about the lounge and if you are happy with it, then that is all that matters. Well done....See MoreAre glass splashbacks going to date?
Comments (18)Thanks everyone for your comments, they are great! Of course everyone will have different tastes and function that appeal to them, otherwise a designer would have a very boring job!! Its always been on my mind though. I made acrylic also as they were much cheaper than glass, but come with their own issues as they warp, scratch and deteriorate, especially if you use cleaning materials. As for prints, I did this and it is a very fine line. I have seen the most hideous designs, patterns and prints it breaks my heart. Prints can lift off the glass with the glue so be very careful with this process and get a 10 year warranty!! A waterfall image in the shower for example, looks great for the first day and to create impact, but after a month ? Selling a house with one of these gets very interesting as many try to calculate the cost to replace. Again, some will love it and go for it! Just think hard about the impact it has on the house. Also glass splashbacks have some issues with shattering, especially with companies offering inferior glass based on price. So check how your glass is made!! Thanks again and enjoy....See MoreBedroom - needs 'warmth'?
Comments (13)probably got it all sorted but my opinion for what its worth :) some sheer curtains would be the way to go on the window walls.. have them from cornice down & covering the width of the walls. is the nib wall in the centre? if yes you could still pull them back to either side like drapes. i think it will soften the whole room.. i actually like the look of one lamp but another option if hubby doesn't like just cause it clutters up the side table is to go with wall lights or hanging lights either side. the hanging ones may not work if you have a larger central light fitting also add a throw in a super soft touch fabric. maybe fur? happy furnishing...See MoreFrosted glass doors on bath & laundry - yay or nay?
Comments (23)Hi there, I think that the skylight would definitely be the way to go, if your budget runs to it. It will really lift the whole stairwell and make it much lighter and brighter. Full height frosted doors may be OK on the laundry, but I wouldn't recommend it for the bathroom as when lights are on in the room, you may be able to see more than you bargained for, from the corridor. The occupants of the house may feel comfortable with it, but any guests or visitors may not. A frosted panel at the top of the door would be as far as I'd go. Bear in mind too, that glass lets more sound through than timber, and in a situation like yours, I'd recommend a solid core door, for that reason. I hope this helps!...See MoreStephen
