What should I add? I'll be taking them pot plants out.

Prettying it up a bit by extending the little porch to become a wrap-around planter, and replacing the door (that's if you can safely remove the security gate -- if you can't, I'd suggest painting the door anyway, and installing a more modern gate, either in the same colour as the door or black).

Ignore what I said in my previous post. The photo you posted explains everything better. Install a hall coat stand where your lamp is. And yes a sheer curtain would be okay. If you change the swing of the door, it would cause issues in trying to get into the hallway. Or you could install an actual door at hallway.

Console table behind lounge would be wonderful, as per Julies photos above. But even at the moment from your photos I think it looks wonderful with the pieces you already have in that space. My suggestion would be to remove the small bookcase, as it is cluttered with random things and doesn’t look good in the space. Replace with a small shoe storage bench. An artwork on the brick wall above your lovely single chair, would break up the dark brick wall. Hang the mirror above the new storage ottoman, if you are able to. If you are not renting.

So glad you love it. I use Microsoft Paint, most people use something like Photoshop. Paint is a much simpler programme (and my version is very old), but I taught myself to draw using it years ago, so I can draw over pictures that I copy to my files. For things like the flowers I usually just pick up bits of suitable photographs online and fiddle a bit with size and shape until it suits my needs.

I like the idea of painting your door and would also recommend painting the window surrounds in a complimentary colour. Would you even consider painting the house walls? That would be the ultimate easy update!

Love Rina's idea. What about a pergola over the door and window with a flowering vine for shade? It looks like you are in an arid climate and could use shade. You could add a clear poly panel on the pergola above the door for a rain fly if needed.

Hi, if your budget allows your house will look great with a small front covered porch. I would paint the main door black or charcoal grey as well as the window trims. Here are some pictures for inspiration as well as an example of different colors and materials if you wish to reprint in brown tan you can add stone tile as an accent and have a dark wood door and dark brown trims. Have you thought about painting the door and window trim charcoal black, not too gray, and tone down your front door with a gray-blue? See the above photo to the right, the dark trim makes the house pop! It is a low cost, easy update.

Add a simple pergola structure across the facade..This need not cost much.
Grow a fast growing creeper to soften the look. Ivy or perhaps a bird attracting Kennedia.
New front door maybe just paint and perhaps matching shutters. Good luck.

What about painting the front door soft red. Adding window self-watering flower boxes and pergola over head in white over the entire front. The pergola should have slanted bracing so not to interfere with parking. The planter boxes will soften the front as it looks hard/cement currently.

I agree with painting the door - if you use Rustoleum you can match the color of the door and make the security door "disappear" without compromising safety.

Even if you cannot afford an actual porch addition, add seating into the right side driveway area. A café table with umbrella and two chairs will add a sense of hominess to the space. define the space by adding larger rocks to divide the space car are driving in from the seating space.

You need to add something dark, for contrast and "punctuation".. I agree with the others about painting the front door black (not gray) and would also paint the planter boxes, step, and sides of the porch black. Perhaps as well the window trim and even the eaves trough although I would want to see the roof color better to decide on that. Then some brightly coloured plants in the planters and maybe a small brightly painted stool or chair or small table to the side of the door on the porch area. These things would make the font of the house "sing" and add personality so the home stands out from others around it.

I bought a similar ranch-style red brick house, and wanted a cottage kind of look. Some of the ideas above seem pretty expensive. I have a great handy man who can do most anything, so he helped me with the shutters and arbor once the red brick was painted grey.

A solid canopy over the door would look good and be functional. Plus a decorative wall light if you have the room. Or one could be installed in a canopy. You could even put a partial fence (railing) around the step. Solid door canopy ideas

Perhaps a small deck at the front to soften and give a sense of place. This is what we did with our place. Before and after. Granted we extended the dining room and it has made a wonderful change to our home, especially since the grand children are multiplying!!
