Comments (78)JudyG – Happy Birthday!! Tras – I had that exact issue with where to transition colors, because my house is open concept. The kitchen & dinette are a pale teal .. but they’re open to the great room & foyer, which are peach. I paid the color expert at the paint store for a consultation, and we talked about how far towards the blue I really wanted, I could go in the kitchen/dinette .. leaving a medium green ceramic backsplash, and where to transition colors. We also talked about light & warm colors to replace the dark colors in the main bathroom & finished basement. It was worth the $125, and I didn’t have to wade thru 100 conflicting comments on Houzz! Darzy – I so agree with you, about the scope of fixes some posters recommend. If I asked how well a fabric I was considering for the couch went with other furniture already in that room, I wouldn’t appreciate people telling me to paint the walls, change the windows, replace the flooring, and change the stone on the fireplace! Another subject for us OLLDs to chat about – Consumer Reports magazine/website – are they really unbiased & even handed? Do they have a bias against high-end manufacturers or products?...See MoreSWAP
Comments (266)no, say it ain't so! As an older work friend once told me - she was maybe 55 at the time, lol. I don't do waist lines anymore! My husband says he is an all american mutt, as am i. he would never use a kit. i really don't want him too, they might discover that touch of cro magnon in him. the touching eyebrows, the too big jaw. the head that fits in no hats. the organs that every doctor says are the largest they ever saw! How you doing on water weight? that is what comes off the best? cut back on salt. no gassy foods - take gas x. now mind you the gas does not magically disappear, it does come out-you will now have burps worthy of a 12 yo boy with a rootbeer. what it does stop is bloating. Miralax uses water in the body to help the body get rid of excess waste. that is a thought, killing 2 birds with one stone. If someone had asked me 5 years ago if i would have this wealth of knowledge on this subject, I might have slapped them, thinking they had lapsed into insanity! oh, and about the thread, ttt is sure she posted it? re-mark-a ble!...See MoreA trend that should end?
Comments (260)Tell me about it, the ones across the road were going all day and night in the front yard, including revving up a motor bike they're not allowed to ride! my hubby wears flannie shirts when he's not in work gear. He likes ripping them, that's a trend that should end. of course, all Australian flag thongs (flip flops) are made in China!...See MoreWhat do you think of our bathroom and kitchen ideas?
Comments (24)And to answer your question siriuskey. Yes the front room has been opened out into a verendah. This room got really hot in summer so wasn’t working as another living space. We’re restricted to what we can change at the front of the house as we are in a heritage area. We can make changes without a DA if we don’t change the front of the house. Agree we can change a lot with a wooden house, but I think we’ll be restricted on reusing windows. All our casement windows are original glass from the 1930s so won’t be to modern building code. If we move them, they’re gone. However replacing with modern glass would bring more light into the home. We’ve put fans in all rooms and always have the French doors open in bed 2 so light and ventilation haven’t been an issue. Might become so if we put a moody teenager in there though!...See MoreRina
