Thermoformed glass does wear well. I suggest that if you are considering buying an artistic glass surface, that you are prepared to care for it as if it was more valuable than a less expensive surface. Glasses and dinner plates with smooth bottoms are a good idea...as are coasters.
Its art....give it some love, and it will handsomely reward you forever.
Also, the texture on bottom, and the choice of the substrate color go a long way to hiding the appearance of scratches.
