Can't see why it will be a problem??? I assume the top of the window is the right hight align with the bottom of your wall cabinets. Your cabinetmaker will work it out. You will just need to select a range hood before they finish their design.

I work in tiles and the normal splashback height is 600 mm. This is because overhead cupboards are usually this height above the bench top. In your case you don't have this so can do anything you like. If you tile to low 200mm etc the wall gets damaged - paint doesn't wear like tiles. There are many materials you can use as a splash back but most aren't durable eg Perspex. Glass and tiles have the edge. Textured splashes are in hence the hand made tiles. If grout annoys you use large tiles you can get them up to 1200mm long these days with rectified edges you only have 1.5mm gap. Use sealer on the grout, they are now easy clean. If you have the money tile to the bulkhead a much more luxurious look. Maybe in a charcoal. I don't know how these gaps are getting so dirty. I use spray and wipe with a toothbrush occasionally and it takes little time and always clean.

Hello Tallitha For your question "How high can you mount a rangehood?" and "I can see minimum heights but not maximum" the minimum is related to Fire regulations and so there actually is no maximum. You can install a canopy hood higher than the standard 700mm if that is what you want. The problem with this are; two fold, One being the balance of aesthetics to the adjacent structures, which you can decide on how this looks for yourself. The second is the extraction efficiancy of a Hood / Canopy where the higher it is placed away from the source of the vapors, the more these vapors disperse beyond the cachment area of the the hood. How bad this extraction will be at any set height will then depend on how many cubic metres of air the extractor's fan you choose can move. Some Hoods extract as little as 420 cubic meters an hour (m3/hr). To compensate for the extra height you could consider for an example a hood like the Falmec Latina that can extract 1140 m3/hr or a model upto 2010 m3/hr when compared to say a standard canopy hood like the Robinhood RWC3CL9SS that moves 736 cubic meters. Though something like the Falmec Hood is still not the price you mentioned above, you can however expect that a hood with a higher capacity will cost more than one with a low capacity. Hi Kath, Height of splashback depends on a few things, will you have overhead cupboards? if yes then they need to be 600mm above your finished benchtop. If you don't have overhead cupboards and only the rangehood I suggest you go at a minimum to the bottom of the rangehood. If you want to make that wall a feature have you considered taking the splashback all the way to the ceiling? It could look spectacular.
