Which view would you choose?
Comments (2)None of the above. Our bedroom window looks at our side fence, however, once we finish our extension, we will have a nice view of our back yard from our family room's wide bifold doors....See MoreWhich white would work here?
Comments (25)Hi all Good forum but I’m thinking that the paint above the picture rail maybe should be a semi gloss not a Matt colour In the 50s the panelling would have been painted with a gloss But semi gloss is more modern and reflects the light I’m presuming your wall colour is matte Try semi gloss above to ceiling ,it dries quite flat but with enough sheen to be reflective and more appropriate for the panelling It will change the look and look amazing...See MoreWhich colour would you use to paint these windows?
Comments (7)The back of the house you've nailed it -- all windows in the charcoal . Do the pergoda in a similar stain , and it's done . The front though -- you say the roof is Manor Red -- it looks like a fading brown to me ? Might be the photo , but I would go redder there -- it looks in that picture that it will need doing soon ? The one area I would concentrate on though is that gable ! I'd do all the upright boards and the surrounding boards in a really crisp white , and leave the infill in primrose or beige . Subtle but it will lift it . You then have the option of leaving the windows as they are , or going all black / charcoal / monument -- the latter would look more modern , but i don't think that would be the best look for the house -- I'd leave them as they are and embrace the period ....See MoreWhich white for walls/kitchen doors (cream window frames & blackbutt)?
Comments (5)We have the same challenge with those cream window frames. If you use window coverings (I will probably add warm white blinds and sheers) think about what they will look like from the outside as well. Stark white will look wrong with our style of home. I love plantation shutters, but again, can’t have them because they’d look terrible from outside....See MoreJohn Barton Architect
