Hi 3 wall niches included as wall feature of new kitchen / dining area in new coastal holiday home Dimensions 1480 x930x225 Any ideas how to best utilise these areas as focal point of interest would be greatly appreciated
I think using your niches to display sculptures or art would be brilliant, you might need to change the light above to be a directional spot. Alternatively change the spot to a run of LED's (you can get colour changer ones) get a carpenter to create a 'new' back, 75mm smaller all around in the niches that 'floats' (split battens) and you could paint the new backs a mid murky blue (similar to what you would see in the sea on a calm cloudy day) commission some art (multy media, glass & or metal) to float equidistant in the space. Good luck
i would like to see the 3 niches completely framed, inside and out, with mouldings that are then painted in a high gloss white. The framing of the niches will add a sence of luxury to the space (include skirtings in the room to match. Then either 3 stand out paintings in a series with good led lighting for display purposes or glass shelving to display just a few favourite colourful pieces.
Line the niches back wall with a timber, as in horizontal floorboards or fence paintings to provide a coastal backdrop, and provide a contrasting frame for your chosen artwork or sculptures. You could mirror them so it reflects whatever the opposite solid wall has to reveal, or wallpaper them in a coordinating paper to link into your soft furnishings interior.
