georgi has some very good ideas and is on the ball in regards to if you want to keep it to a low budget but you have stated that you want a complete change but the toilet has to stay where it is. So i am going forward with the complete change, modern look without being extravagant. I would remove all tiles, vanity, pictures, hand rails, toilet and curtains. I would get rid of the shower and put a new one over the bath tub. This will free up space and make the bath area dual purpose. Bigger bathroom already! I would then remove the current porcelain tub and make it into a planter outside or sell it. Extend the bathtub walls higher to about 50cm and out to where the brick work butts the current vanity's position. Also extend slightly the bath wall nearest the toilet so you can install glass near the window. You will end up with a slightly bigger bath area. georgi has the right idea with the tiles placement. My preference although you can change it would be to get a light slate or sandstone coloured tiles. Either go all white tiles for floor and walls or mix it like sandstone colour on the floor with white on the walls. Tile either up to 2m up the wall or to the ceiling if you have a bit of extra cash for a clean stylish look. Tile the bath tub walls too so you end up with something similar to a roman bath with shower. The shower head should be of enough distance away that water splashes are minimal on the window sill. Now install a frame less glass partition between the toilet and the wall near the current vanity. Install a new toilet - white modern look with a fuller body than the one you currently have. Now for the new vanity.... These are just ideas and are ones with a tub installed. The roman styled gives you more room if you want to have a bath and is not as slippery when getting in or out. Also toddlers can hold the side and stand up without slipping over and hurting themselves. Cleaning is not a issue if normal maintenance like wiping down glass and tile after every shower/bath. I have taken the wiping down routine for the last 10 years. I only had to clean the grout once every 3 to 4 years and it doesnt stain heavily. Lighting i like the ideas of georgi. The mirrors can also double as storage cabinets.

A three way bathroom can cost twice as much to tile than one large bathroom, ( sometimes more, depending on your tiles, there is a lot of cutting, it is in fact 3 rooms , each with its own tile bed, if you are doing it yourself, have a tiler give you a quote before , if you are having a professional business renovate in Sydney about $ 30K for all labour only. for a 3 way , this should be about $ 22/ $ 24 K for one large room, with nib wall vanity to toilet, niches to shower and bath, anything cheaper we would have doubt about quality of waterproofing, tiling, sound insulation To make a decision, go and sit on the edge of your bath by yourself and visualize your finished bathroom. one large ( less expensive room, ) or three small rooms. ON paper ideas can be appealing. Buying at the place where trade buys can keep cost lower. e.g Kaldewei Eurowa made in Germany steel bath 2.5 mm thick $ 400 You state it is your master bathroom,to us your master bathroom should have the look, if you go to sell your home this could make/ break the sale. Back to your vanity, the larger vanity will make the room look cluttered. Ken Evers

hi we have about six months ago now, re done our bath room , similar size to yours, and , i can take some photos and email them to you , we have maximised space, and walls , put in a white stone bath under the window , it is a metre in width , with a cool water spout coming off the centre under the window we pu t afalse ledge in to sit , candles etc on , , we tiles floor to ceiling, off white , wall mirror cabnit with three mirrors , inset into the wall so its only sits out a we bit from the wall tiles , floating bath room vanity , so that it makes the floor space look bigger , . matching stone square basin sits ontop of the vanity to one side so plenty of room to sit all your bath room stuff when need be , seperate shower all tiled as well , with inset , shelves for shampoo etc, also , when you open the bath room door and walk in when you close the bath room door behind it next to the shower is a very narrow floor to ceiling shelvec for towels, now the hole is there we jaust havent got the shelves put in yet. , we gt loads of comments as the bth room dosent look small evn though it is , , most expensive item the sqwat extra wide stone bath , made to order basin / tap ware and shower spray thing ,oh and the white stone vanity which we had made to order as well , due to the sizing .

the last option with shower and toilet either side of the window and hinged entry door opening towards the laundry cabinet... hinged door is cheaper and offers more privacy and solid core hinged doors will improve sound reduction and the back of a door can support extra towel rack and/or clothes hooks and the tall window needs only be same as top of door height (about 2.1m) and if necessary simple hinged doors on the laundry nook will use the least space and are only open occasionally
