number two is definitely the wow factor, but methinks number one is more practical. Think in term of you in the pool and your partner.friend in the spa,,,,,,trying to converse or even share a bottle of wine. (yes yes..I know we shouldnt drink wine in a spa.......but come on.. we all do it).

Hi Rick, As a spa is a time for R&R it is important for it to feel like a secluded space away from the hustle and bustle of life. I would remove the stick fencing and paint the existing fence in that corner white or whitewash. From here I would add bamboo along the left hand side of the safety fence to increase privacy and the 'retreat' feel, leaving the side with the entrance open. Planting a wide variety of tropical plants will enhance the space further, lots of green but do not be afraid to mix in some purples and pinks here and there. If you are scared of killing the plants, succulents are really hard to kill. Even installing a few simple shelves on the far fence to hold candles and other decorative items will make the space come together. Fairy lights are great for outdoor spaces used at night also, solar powered options are available. You even have the option to include some seating as you have so much space. Again, going white will really lift the space. Some fun hooks on the fence would be awesome for towel/robe storage also.

Hi Margaret, Hope you found a great solution for your spa area! I saw someone mention using natural foliage as a screen and thought I’d chime in to propose using a mix of real and artificial plants. This is just scary, that picture could be our ensuite expect for nib wall. Interestingly we are people who would use it at least twice a month for last 24yrs but we have beautiful country view thru pine forest and vineyard which is very private. So having cuppa an soaking is great for tired old muscles. Having said that in new house we are building its gone. Why is re-sale and maintaining them is a pain if your not using, not to mention water & electricity cost. The simplicity of a free standing is current trend but also think about cleaning around it, as its not as easy as you may think.
