Need ideas for backyard makeover
Comments (18)Two plants I can suggest that I have chosen for my garden, are virtually unkillable, will grow in almost ANY soil or weather conditions & require little maintenance are: butterfly/african iris & Celtic Cascade tree. Both can be left to go a little wild for a natural look, or be cared for, to fit perfectly in a more formal garden. In regards to the iris, I removed my entire garden of mature, property damaging trees when I moved into my new house, but didn't want to wait years for a new mature garden, so I searched online for ppl selling/giving fully grown specimens away before they did renovations or re landscaped! The plants were a cinch to dig up, replant in my heavy clay soil & are thriving! I even cut some of them in half before planting and it didn't phase them!...See MoreIdeas for backyard garden
Comments (6)Do you know if it is clumping or running bamboo? I've grown to love our little clump of clumping bamboo. Recently, I pruned back all the old culms, divided and transplanted it along our back fence near the cubby house. It has quickly reestablished and is doing a great job of screening out the neighbours higgle-piggle of sheds. I can see that yours needs some pruning ton thin it out and show off the stems, but you might find that you can create an attractive, instant and cost effective screen to be a uniform backdrop to some new feature plants in pots (bamboo can look good in a classic garden but I have to agree that bamboo and roses aren't the best combination)...See MoreIdeas for unused backyard space
Comments (5)It looks like theres a gate there , and although you mightn't envisage using the garage for vehicles in the near future , you may sell or your use may change -- in other words , don't plonk anything permanent there . Just a general observation too -- IMO the house with white window surrounds looks a lot more balanced than the garage with a grey door . Personally , I'd do the garage door in white , and then all the fence and probably the deck in a charcoal . That may be in your plans , or you may disagree , just a quick observation ....See MoreHelp - backyard design ideas
Comments (7)Have you considered decking? You can use the different heights to your advantage the deck could be stepped or platforms. It looks like you already have a deck you can extend that and if you don’t use that entrance where the pillows are I’d get rid of it. I assume you have a doorway onto your current deck you could enlarge that with cantilevered doors which would open up the whole area....See Morerichardagostinho
