Help! i need an upgrade of my bathroom!

When the previous owners had built this house they put in timber benches on the vanity and had the sink under the bench tops. Now the varnish is coming off and water gets in under the cracks. Long story short, i want to update this bathroom to a more modern look but also keeping to the country theme (this is a farm house on 30 acres). I want to keep the doors, tiles, spa, toilet, shower. i want to replace the bench top, sink, mirror, light above mirror, faucet and taps for vanity spa and shower.
Questions: Should i put a timber look laminate bench top or go different altogether?
Should i replace the tiles or can i keep them to blend in with the new look?
If i keep the tiles should i try to match colors with the grout color of the tiles?
How should i decide which type of sink to put?

The tiles are not offensive..most people are choosing white with white anyway. Given the items you want to keep I would simply replace the bench top, add a new wider longer mirror, that fills the space where you currently have the tiles and if you are using laminate it can only be an above mount sink. If you are doing stone or timber then you can have an undercount sink. I would possibly consider taking off all the wall tiles and find a more natural tile to work with your floors and then add a lick of paint to freshen it all.

A country look doesn't have to be brown or wood. You could use a soft blue laminate and match the colour somewhere else (mirror? towels?). I think changing the faucets and putting in a good light over the mirror .will make a big difference

I think sliding door takes up less room, I just put one in my laundry/bathroom. We brought the frame and sliders as a kit from masters and purchased door separately just their cheap internal door, as the door hangs from runners it is not quite touching the floor I don't think their will be any water issues

I personally also love red, but would use it only in a space such a bathroom with restraint. Depending on the size of your bathroom space, (which is not indicated here), I would be a little cautious in the liberal use of red. If the colour of your tile is warm it will make the space feel smaller and also warmer, so the aspect of the room is also important as, in summer, it could feel quite hot if there is incoming daylight combined with steam etc. My other point of caution is that it is more difficult and costlier to alter red tiles & basin in the future if you tire of them, as opposed to red paint. Perhaps you might be better served obtaining your red highlights in another form?

We renovated our 2400x3000 bathroom with a layout along the lines of Siriuskey's suggestion. We allowed 900 for bath (includes space to get mop in around back -use a narrower built-in or back to wall style free-standing to conserve on width) 900 for shower (could go down to 800 since elbow room is 'shared' with bath). We have extra space around the toilet, so your slightly smaller dimensions should be ok. We have towel rail opposite shower (with a heating vent to keep the space warm when drying off plus help dry out the shower cubicle), but they could be placed above bath if vanity needs to go there. Definitely a much larger mirror & I'd be inclined to put one up with a wooden frame.
You've got enough height in the room & the splash back to do a nice sink. To accessorise update your tapware, toilet roll holder & cupboard handles.

Keep the tiles. Change the taps and bench top, perhaps granite. Replace the mirror as it would look better the same width as the vanity. Paint the walls as the colour is not tying everything in nicely.
