Need help decorating the strangest-shaped living room ever
Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreNeed help with new mirror/ decorating advice
Comments (19)This mirror would look great, a bit pricey though. Something like this on the console either in black or copper. Could even stand it on a book for extra height. Maybe a bowl on the otherside of the console or some other ornament. A woven basket with a cushion and throw to add some color. or a metal open type basket for more industrial. A pendant light would work well too...See MoreNeed help with living room decor please
Comments (4)Hi Kathy, you have created a lovely, luxurious looking, neutral space that will stand the test of time well. As to artwork, that's always such a personal choice, but as you love natural elements suggest you might explore our signature treescape collection and see if anything there resonates. As all the photos posted above show, 'greenery' works really well as an accent colour. This piece, for example, would tie in the wrought iron of your dining suite and coffee table whilst introducing an accent colour to draw the eye....See MoreNeed advice! Small octagonal living room
Comments (9)That's a beautiful sunny room. You could put in a chase lounge where you have the lounge currently. This can accommodate quite a number of people. Add a couple of swivel chairs near the glassed area so they can move around to be included in the living room and also capture the garden view. (See photo). Putting in a second, heavy set lounge against the glass will make your living room look smaller and cluttered. The chairs allow light to filter through. Adding a rug will warm the room and tie all the pieces of furniture together. If you go fairly light, it will make the room look bigger (try a little pattern so you dont see too much dirt). You could wall mount the television and this will also make the room look larger. Sorry, that's my two bobs worth. Hope it helps!...See Morefablouspink
