Hi AnAhitA Nazari, I totally agree. I actually don't intend to keep the couch on that wall, it just happens to be there due to the renos we are doing at the moment. I thought one of the red chairs under that print on an angle would be better and maybe a little table with a lamp on it? I can't change the colour of the walls as we have just finished painting it so I'm stuck with it. The room is part of a big room which has a partition 5ft wall separating it from the dining room. I'm thinking of putting the sofa on that wall and the other chair on its right hand side. As for the furniture in that room I do realise it's not a great choice but they have lots of memories to me so once again I'm stuck with them lol

Random would simply make no sense, and randomly placed or selected items would only stand out, jar your impression or just feel wrong. On the other hand, eclectic pieces need to have a sense of style, that is definite enough to take a shared stage amongst other interesting, unique or beautiful things, perhaps in complete opposition to each other. A strong sense of design is needed to build an underlying theme of a room to use eclectic, seemingly uncoordating pieces to go so well together. I doubt there would be a designer who would think eclectic is the same as random. Although, there are people who have a knack in just putting these spaces together without really being able to articulate why it works, in these cases, the client may question the direction, but results speak for themselves. If it works, it doesn't 'just work' as we say, it is generally very well planned and carefully considered to achieve a random thrown together eclectic room. It can be a celebration of quirky, great, clever or unique in style, colour or design. But the principles to build and coordinate are still necessary to make it work. I personally love bookcases and apocothary drawers, because they house many different objects that I admire for different reasons. They may not all go together, but because they are all houses in one element ( ie bookcase) and they seem to contain their personality on their own niche or shelf, making he overall collection 'eclectic'. However, they are just individual groupings of things that have merit. According to me- the 'collector'. Your eye will define what on what grounds something holds merit, and so real eclectic is determined by you, the client, and never really the designer!

It's a little unconventional badobbs, but have you considered a toilet with in-built basin and tap - these are very sustainable (although not for everyone!) and are perfect for tight spaces. https://specify.caroma.com.au/products/toilet-suites/profile/profile-5-toilet-suite-deluxe-with-integrated-hand-basin.  To answer your question, usually you need min 800-900mm or so for a fixed panel for a shower, however normally walk-in open showers are located perpendicular to a room, so that splashes and wet floors are contained to one end. Think of when you drop the shower head and it sprays water everywhere! In your case I would advise selecting a well made frameless hinged door - so you can still have a walk-in effect but a bit more protection from water spraying out everywhere. Hi Julie - thanks so much for your suggestions. The water features look gorgeous and trust my luck to fancy the more bespoke labour intensive options! That said, I think your last post about the screens are a winner! I actually think this is what i will go for against the fence. I had originally considered this about two years ago and was keen to get a fabulous custom screen done (with foliage of Western australian flowers), however it just got all too hard and I didn't know how to source the right custom supplier. I'm going to investigate this option in the first instance. I can also probably back light it as well as I have some outside lights in the garden that i haven't positioned very well previously that I can probably run behind this to give a different effect at night. Thank you for reminding me and sourcing these gorgeous pictures. They look perfect. The rusted look gives colour and texture that I think will look great against green foliage, and if I can back light it - I hope it will look awesome. Have a great weekend.
