Comments (5)I like the timber doors. Stick with them! No, They're not popular at the moment but I'd say thats more due to the cost when compared to a mass produced coloured/laminated/painted door which would be milled MDF or melamine and the like. Solid timber is just that, solid timber not some manufactured timber of an unknown quality. I'd go for tiles every time on a floor in a wet area. Genuine marble as a splash back would be awesome in a laundry, get a price as you may be surprised as it's not a huge area. Tiling does add up quite quickly........See MoreMarble overload?Building rookies...
Comments (5)Thanks Fort Interiors. I checked out the Smartstone website and found my dream kitchen! I just received the quote from my local joinery works for my proposed kitchen island, bench and splashback in 'statuario venato' including under mount sink cut out, 2 power point cut outs and waterfall ends -just under $13000!! Unfortunately it seems I will be needing to reign in my naive champagne taste ideas :(...See MoreLaundry/Bathroom combo help
Comments (4)If you want to extend the tiles to the ceiling that is fine. But what practical point is that achieving? Looking at cost and possible removing and replacement of cornices if the tiles are thicker than cornice. Is there a separate toilet in the house, or will the combined bathroom/laundry include a toilet? If there is a toilet in the bathroom, then you are making a multi functional two room space into a one function space. Eg can’t put the washing in, while someone is showering or using the toilet. Or can’t use the toilet if someone is putting the washing on. Taking into account left over odours! Bathroom/laundry combinations are a good use of space, but there can be a negative impact if this is the only bathroom....See Moreseeking advice on layout /storage for kitchen / dining / laundry reno
Comments (25)always about compromise and if the laundry window is reinstated in the original location that restricts options for tall storage so i've included a skinny sink next to the window, a stacked washer and dryer and left the rest of the space open to use for overhead cabinets and/or shelves, tall space under wall cabinets for broom, ironing board, vacuum, baskets etc and hooks on the window wall for work clothes and dog leads...any custom built cabinets would be cramped and very expensive so use the open floor space for storage without doors...the location of the back door opening and doorways from hallway and front entry would also make it too cramped for the narrow cabinet that you wanted unless you make the laundry and powder room too small for the cavity sliding doors so, with so much extra kitchen cabinets for pantry storage (eg between fridge and stove or island drawers?) why not use the central cabinet for your mini office and keep the original wall between entry and living would save demolition and could allow a location for your sideboard.. striped wall sections show dog gates without doors and under a sofa table would make a great nook for the dog beds...See Moresusan_66
