First, get paint chips or some other sample of the colors of the draperies and the floor. Take these to the paint store to help select possible colors. I suggest that after you narrow down your choices that you buy samples of the colors that you are considering and paint them on foam board to get an idea of how it all will look in the room. For a minimalist look, you might consider a the color of the draperies but toned down so that it is almost white.

@fianou, Thank you for your kind words, I agree it's coming along, although not everyone knows that we've been building this home for 8 years now, using only our own money as humble farmers!!! We live in a tiny but comfortable7 square, (roughly) relocatable home and I personally can't wait to get into my new home with all the room and room to put everything in it's place!!! Right now all my posessions are boxed or wraped and in storage in various locations here on the property like our woolshed and an old caravan, as well as things stored in my mother's home a few kms away and with the home having just been sold, means I will have to move this furniture here and add to the mountain of things already in storage!! I'm sorry to say and hope I don't offend, that I don't have an affinity with hanging pots and plants and hubby would literally "cringe" at the thought of growing a vine up our new posts ha-ha I have got a pair of large pots either side of the front door , visible in the photo, housing Wisteria's that I hope to be able to keep tamed and they shoud look lovely when in flower. I originally planned to have about 20 standard roses along the front of the home but they are too much work I've decided and more often than not look quite shabby at certain times, especially when they are dormant, so instead, I have decided to plant several standard grevilleas in a nice stone mulch with a brick border as is the rest of my garden for easy mowing. I actually have quite a large garden but mulch is definitely the way to go and I have used a few different types of stone mulch, as well as tree mulch and woodchips and this reduces my weeding workload, the bain of all gardeners. I'm almost 60 and want to enjoy my home and garden but do not want it to become a burden but should I ever consider a hanging basket, perhaps indoors, I will be reminded of you!!! ha-ha Cheers, Barbara

Hi Heather, whatever the selection - we always recommend to have the cabinetry finish match as closely as possible to your wall finish - as to not look like two contrasting whites, you may just consider repainting after you've made the selection. Dulux Natural white or Lexicon Quarter are both very popular selections - and not on the too cold or too warm side either. We also find that most clients too will mix finishes - for example using a grey for the upper cabinetry, or on the island bench - to create contrast, you may notice that between all white walls, benchtop and sink the white becomes overwhelming! Good luck - we are loving the sounds of how it is all coming together so far!

I would be very careful about painting to match Colorbond Night Sky in such an exposed position. Dark black paints tend to absorb more UV radiation and starts to flake off before lighter colours which are less absorbant to UV radiation. Have a look around for any dark black painted buildings that are five years old to see what I mean. I would not ne introducing a contrast colour, but looking towards the colours that are already in your bricks for inspiration. For the new Easylap panel consider the warm charcoal tones in some of your bricks, and for the shadow board use one of the lighter brown/tan bricks. If you want a pop of colour then bring it in with the furniture and planting for your new deck. I often have this problem with my Melbourne clients in matching brick colours as there are so many possible paint colours, and only a limited range available as paint samples in paint outlets.
