Just about to embark on a renovation of a midcentury Pettit & Sevitt

Hi there -
I desperately want to keep the integrity of this house (what's left) but not compromise on good looks. I'd love your thoughts:
The pool fence, on side - I think is ugly but does offer privacy which we appreciate.
- the reddish brick tiles are in average condition.
There isn't any red brick elsewhere in the house, only white painted bricks along with beautiful full length Oregon beams / rich chocolate and soon-to-be-white walls and grass-weave wallpaper features, warm timbers etc
We are going to remove the smaller pool fence seen at the rear .. to allow more space to move and the air-conditioning unit hidden in the box. - Landscaping advice would be appreciated .My husband doesn't like succulents which is a bummer.
Any advice on the area would be a help.
We have thought maybe to deck up to the pools edge? Stain brick to darker colour ? Live with it and consider landscaping and invest in some great mid century modern outdoor furniture?
Thoughts? Help !!!
