What should do to provide new entry out onto new deck?
Comments (2)Hi Laura, I have been through the same dilemma myself. I could not find an option short of getting second hand doors. Sliding doors are, to me anyway, a poor option especially if they are used all the time i.e. your main ingress/egress. Given the cost of the windows/doors I have not done anything at this stage. I will later but I will ensure that I can have exactly what I want. If I was to put in something that was not I wanted I suspect that I would regret it. In the mean time I would be looking on the second hand market and see if there is anything appropriate. Bifolds and French doors look fantastic and will really open up the area. Good luck with it....See MoreWhat to do with front entry?
Comments (9)Hello You have a challenge!! Will you also have the pavers pressure cleaned when the render happens? What colour will the render be? I think you have some magnolias growing there at the front. Could they be extended across the entire front to create a hedge for the patio. The single high window is awkward, isn't it? Make it a feature by using two laser cut screens. Place them horizontally - one across the window and the other immediately below. This will allow light into the room and also create a point of interest for the front door. Use your lovely terra cotta pot in front of the screens and add another magnolia. To the left of the front door have a long, lean green wall of living plants - maybe succulents. Complete - do no more!! Cheers...See MoreHow can I make my entrance more inviting?
Comments (15)As you are only looking for ideas perhaps a starting point would be a modern, square style of entrance that you could get ideas from. I couldn't find what I wanted exactly for a photo, but I think if you took points from this photo and adjust to your budget it might suit?? Eg. I think if you can get a nice wide door with a bit of glass on either side, it would really present well. Raising the height of the concrete at the front door with decking tiles or stone tiles depending on your style could really enhance. Concrete pavers you could even make yourself! They can be smaller or larger and if scaled right to the proportions of the house can make it a little more formal. As you have the driveway on the side, I would put a screen on the left and emphasise the left column making a feature of it as in the picture. The column on the right does not align with the entrance, I would not emphasise that column? But perhaps hard to gauge from one photo. If you went for wood this might be an idea....See MoreWhat do you think of my floor plan for my new home?
Comments (73)This floor plan has a single garage, with bedrooms grouped together at the front of the house, the Music Room has been moved to the rear away from the bedrooms as it would make too much noise for those sleeping. It can now be opened up to the family kitchen dining, courtyard and Alfresco and can be used as a play room(/ guest room) giving children great indoor out door play area in view of parents. There's a study with a similar view. A powder room closer to the rear of the house for easy access, The main bathroom is done Japanese style. The master suite has the WIR between the bed and the ensuite, no noise etc when in use to disturb anyone. I have made the passage way extra wide and more like a room which has a linen cupboard, you could certainly make this narrower and add to the bedrooms if you wished, This comes to 204.5 sq m. cheers...See Moredecodilema
