Hi jayvall, my tiler was $80 per square metre so if you add on the waterproofing (and screed I assume) i don't think it seems too outrageous. Apparently it depends on the sort of tile you use. The rounded edge tiles are cheaper to lay because they aren't so fiddly. Rectified tiles take more time because they have to be squared up perfectly to look good so cost more to install. I have done two bathrooms now (and a fully tiled laundry) each one I have thought "the tiling in taking forever!" But to get it right is time consuming- all that planning the tiler has to do to get everything lined up. Getting the waterproofing right is obviously very important too. Giving each coat time to dry which means going away and coming back another day. Same with the screed - allowing it time to dry properly. Good luck with your project.

Hi Jennifer, this would be a very very costly exercise - plenty of our clients have achieved a similar look with rectified tiles, utilising a minimal grout line - making the cleaning aspect easier, ultimately you are left with a 1/2mm grout line. It is very minimal! Porcelain panels can also be very expensive too - and there will be added costs involving transport + delivery, as they are heavy and in large sheet sizes. It depends also whether you are building from new, or just renovating - as it may be a bit more difficult to maneuver the large panel into an exiting home. Certainly do your research though - there are lots of options out there - best of luck!

Hi bigreader. It's not the tiles in the niche that are the problem. In fact, one piece of tile (30 x 60) will fit perfectly with no grout lines. It's the wall tiles around the niche space that will not line up with the side edges of the niche

Thanks once again oklouise for your comments. I have already been told by the draughtsman that I cannot put in skylights. No idea if this is true but he seemed quite sure and it was he who 'designed' the layout of said ensuite with what I consider a too small window because of ease of plumbing and drainage. He says that can be changed...............Supposedly only put like that to get the oversize plan in fir consent. This department is only interested in the outside view and the effect on the neighbours, which I actually dont have any. The positioning of the ensuite and WiR has changed too from the first plan as I had to come 'out' of my bedroom into a corridor past the WiR door and then into the ensuite. Technically they were both in my bedroom as had not entered the hallway but did not seem like it. So the wall you have now suggested for the door is a small lobby to the bedroom and I had planned to put furniture on it and a full length mirror. I will now look again at the whole space with three zones to see what can be done. I used the word solar tube as I thought that was the generic name for the 'tube' installed which reflected light into a room. Do they cause draughts? Have had no experience of them but will probably want to install one in my scullery (or Butler's kitchen) but am going to work in it a few months before deciding that. I am really quite a novice about function of installations and of building code.
