My 10c worth: If I was to make a door like the one in the pic, I would use a piece of 38mm thick Triboard. Having a good-looking exposed track system is expensive for a larger or heavier door. Also make sure there is sufficient strength above the door in the right place to hang the door. We sell these sliding track systems in NZ, Id recommend the Henderson Rustic 80 system. Looking online overseas, theres some pretty good deals, but there's always the quality risk. Nor sure how much you are able to do yourself, there would be lots of savings to be made there, as usual!

You would be best to talk to an expert like the Clever Closet Company who have lots of good reviews on Houzz. As soon as you start to look at plywood construction the costs go up. This is the case when you start to talk about large panels, such as end panels and doors, as standard plywood is more susceptible to warping with changes in moisture. You would also be looking at the premium appearance grade plywood where the surface veneer is knot-free and perfect. If plywood was a good and cost-effective material for walk-in-robe fitouts then there would be more cabinetmakers happy to build them. Like most clients your wish list exceeds your budget and you will have to make some compromises. Looks like it will function well. I guess my thoughts are; if this is what you can get for the total cost of $8,500 then what other options can they provide you with? I feel like, that is a lot of money for what you are getting... so what other styles/storage/layout options can you get for $8,500? Any way I have also provided some great pic options that would also work well.. if not, better? What are your thoughts? Regards Hayley
