Lovely print. I had a peacock feather print and I had a colour called glacier Grey behind. Think it was Wattyl . Again like your other walls it is a greenish grey but darker. I also had my prints on a charcoal wall..loved that too. As you said the picture ties in with the chairs and now it's not necessary to add more matching colours. I'd buy a couple of sample pots and paint large pieces of cardboard. With the other walls I would consider painting them in whisper white (Dulux) a very universal colour that ties in nicely with all colours.

Apart from the paint colour there are a few other things I would change first. Are you able to change the vertical blinds? They are contributing to the dated look. I would lose the table clothes completely and get some modern art for your walls. The lighting is also something I would look at changing especially the ceiling pendant ( too traditional) and the floor lamp. I would also get rid of half the sofa cushions. Changing the paint colour alone will not make your place look modern, IMHO.

Hey Dounia The colour and the way it has been painted is very much what we saw in the late 90's and early 2000's when we all went through the textured paint feature wall craze. But, saying that Paint and design technology have come a long way since then and I would encourage you not to give up on the copper idea and use a modern approach and product. What a cool house design! Off the top of my head, I think I'd be inclined to paint the brick surrounding the sliding door (1st image) and either paint the pillars or clad them in same timber as the ceiling just inside that same sliding door (1st image). I'd be tempted to leave the large wall as bigreader suggested simply because it's such a magnificent feature. If you live with it for a while then still not loving it, then paint it. While I like the chandelier, it doesn't really suit where it is, as Warren pointed out. If you wanted to change, best to consider if there are any other electrical changes you want to make and get an electrician out only the once. As far as paint colour goes, do you know what the current wall paint colour is?I'd paint to match the wall colour and complement the carpet, but important to know if you like the current colour or want to change. Also it would help to know what your own plans for the interior style is. Do you want to remain true to the 80s with just a few tweaks, or change it completely? About the balustrade, do you want to change the colour of it as well? Is it also made out of glass (couldn't quite tell from photo)?
