I think using your niches to display sculptures or art would be brilliant, you might need to change the light above to be a directional spot. Alternatively change the spot to a run of LED's (you can get colour changer ones) get a carpenter to create a 'new' back, 75mm smaller all around in the niches that 'floats' (split battens) and you could paint the new backs a mid murky blue (similar to what you would see in the sea on a calm cloudy day) commission some art (multy media, glass & or metal) to float equidistant in the space. Hi moscato65 Technically, wainscoting is only on the lower section of a wall. What you have pictured is more like panelling effect using beading. Lovely look. Just be cautious of the proportion re: optical illusion this may cause. Will it make your feature wall look smaller? Just on the flat wall, I think. Don't go around the corner as you will lose the 'feature' idea. Perhaps try the idea out using Washi tape (it comes off cleanly) on the wall, in the configuration you imagine. That will give you something to view, before you make a move.

Hi Caroline, i know what you mean, I'm not a fan of white tiles either because I have young kids but sometimes a room needs them to add light, the following photos all have a wood look feature tile but they all have white/cream somewhere. If you could imagine all of the floor and walls in your dark tile and then a lovely bright white background on just one wall and your wood look vanity I really think it would be fabulous! I think subway tiles may be too busy. A simple white tile would bring so much light into the room! you can add pendants , towels, decor to bring in more colour. Often when looking at tiles In showrooms they look like they will all go, but try and find a photo of the tile you've chosen laid as a whole wall, it often looks much different. I think you should go with what you love though!

Thanks for your response annb, and comments on the house. Took me a long time to choose door colours and very happy I went with a dark colour rather than white for the doors to contrast the white walls. Your correct, it's Spanish/Mediterranean style, and really appreciate your thoughts.
