Hi Blufitch, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The four coffee tables are lovely, but I would probably opt for one of the two top ones. That being said, check the measurements first as these round tables might be significantly larger than your existing Ikea table. Re the potted plant, a taller one would be better, or you can put this one on a plant stand or even on a ceramic stool. But if you feel a mirror would be too much due to your mirrored splashback, leave the plant as it is and hang a framed print above the plant. It doesn't need to be big, but it's important that it s not too small so it doesn't look too "lost" on the wall. It's hard for me to judge the size from here, but a 70x40 frame might be ok. You could have only the yellow canvas above the couch, but you would have to bring in a few more brightly-coloured cushions or throw onto the couch, to compensate for the empty wall. Alternatively, you could also hang a large mirror above the couch. If you decide to do this, I think it would be best to move the canvas back to where it was, and hang the mirror in front of the window, so it reflects the natural light around and gives more depth to the room. The large Ikea Stave mirror (in white stained oak) is very reasonably priced and would work great. Just double check it fits first (it's 70x160)! Tell us how yo go! If I were you I'd consider a rug that has the neutral tones but also something that has a bit of colour that you can use for inspiration to then pull out for cushions. Remember browns can be cool (blue/grey) or warm (orangier). It looks from the picture that the browns in the pic are warmer so i would go orange/magenta. Keeping in mind I know nothing about your style or colour preferences, I put together this visual to give you an example of how you could work it by pulling out colours from the rug, using texture for interest and mimicking the circles in the picture to bring it together. I see what you mean with the mirror, maybe a large light canvas artwork would be more suitable using the command hooks, I think if you pick up the blue in your rug you can choose another rug to go in couch area, you don’t need to match it pattern wise, looks beautiful to have different rugs in similar toning maybe think about the lamps also with your little one , don’t want to topple over onto them, maybe artwork, luxury cushions and throws and plants in a low heavy pot that won’t tip over could look beautiful until you feel safe to add them, love your furniture.

So where would your cooktop be? Where would you cut up vegetables and need to wash them? Where would people get a drink of water from? If you want to keep the kitchen bench top clear then that means you are going to be standing in the butlers pantry a lot accessing water for various cooking and personal needs of washing hands and drinking. Have you thought of putting a small sink at the end of your “clear island”, this will be somewhere to fill up and empty pots of water, if your cooktop is in the kitchen, somewhere to get a drink, somewhere to wash hands and vegetables.
