I had heard that how2girl. I am trying to do some more research on 2016 statistics for WA. It looks like most hardwoods are naturally resistant to white-ant and apparently they don't like MDF much because of the glue content. The data and statistics that I have found so far seem to be from 1995 & 2004. We did look in to this before we decided to manufacture the architraves and MDF was the better option. We do offer timber though as well.

you can have internal timber frames and external aluminimium which are different colours and better insulation with thermal break double glazing so should be able to have any colour you like for a price...check with your local window manufacturer for specifics

I am planning an update for the large kitchen/dining/family area and new paint and floorcoverings throughout my late 1980's house. Looking for advice please on which white to paint my walls and doors to work to best advantage with: - doeskin (mustardy yellowish ) colour aluminium windows/sliding doors (painting window frames is beyond my budget) - jarrah (redddish brown) wood frames to main room doors in living area (thinking of changing these from stained to shiny wood finish) - a few special (handmade by hubby) jarrah furniture pieces to mix in with new styling. -woodgrained pattern vinyl tiles or bamboo flooring - new kitchen - probably simple white kitchen handleless cupboards (something that doesn't date too much) and a light speckled stone benchtop (room has low natural light) Was thinking of pale walls not to compete with yellow of windows or dark door frames and using splashes of greens in plants and accessories, gold and limited black, But maybe this is all wrong. Help please! What do you think? Some paint colours that may be possiblities among others are: Dulux: Natural White, Antique White USA. White Duck 1/8th, British Paints: White Beam Taubmans: Milk Cloud, Cradle White.

There are compromises that always come when you tile over existing surfaces. I think what you have currently is the best result you are going to get. If you really hate it pull off the door architrave and install a thicker one or pack out the existing one and reinstall. Adding quad or trim to the millimetres that are showing will emphasise the problem not conceal it.
