A mixture of bold vibrants colours are my forecast for 2016. Its all about contrast!

Sounds like you have a lot of white in your home! Do you have any interior/exterior images of the spaces in mind? It may be easier to get feedback if we know what we're commenting on. Sometimes a picture tells a thousand words!

there are some interesting putty grey colours in the knots of your floorboards. I reckon it would be worth holding some paint swatches up to the boards and see if you can find one that ties in with those driftwood tones in the timber . Then order a sample pot in a half or quarter strength version of the matching colour then see how it looks. Otherwise it is so hard to go with colours people have named, as every space has different light. If you are happy with the colour of the floor boards, let them guide your choice and you can't fail (as long as not too dark). :)

I just had to comment -- taupe and grey aren't colours IMO , and aren't strong , again my opinion . Without seeing your house , the natural light , the style of the rooms and the like -- will it stand mid to darker colours , or will it look too dark ? I'm thinking things like grape or burgundy or a light bright green or blue , or even 50's inspired yellows or tangerine ? The last 2 would almost certainly need white trims , but the rest may even go with charcoal or in a couple of those -- a deep blue or a forest green trims ? Also , are your doors timber ( I.e. stained or varnished ) or white or similar ? And to a fair degree I agree with dreamer -- its as easy to do a weekly or even daily clean , as it is to spend a week and $2k or whatever repainting , as even darker colours and natural woods and even light switches etc all show dirt and prints .
