TV console dilemma! Help please.

I am working on my living room and am at very early stages. I have bought a rug (pic attached) and I have an artwork for the top of the bar cabinet.

my dilemma is I don't know what kind of Rv unit I should put to avoid the room being to brown. Please send me some ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. An any other thoughts on the room.

I mean TV unit. The one I have is very old and to bulky

Hi angemile. I would turn it around. If you have found artwork that you love, make it the focal point in the room when you walk in - instead of the TV. (I am making an assumption here - that your main entry into this room is from where you have taken the photos). You have a beautiful lounge suite. I would position the two-seater where you have the TV currently, with artwork above. Leave the armchair next to the plant where it is and position the other one in the corner by the window with the floor lamp next to it. The bar cabinet could go where the second armchair is currently. Position the TV in the corner where the bar cabinet is now. I would go white with the TV cabinet - something like:

Then try and bring out those subtle orange and navy colours that are in your rug with cushions and accessories. Good luck!

Ali your kitchen looks amazing. The colours are wonderful. I have a question for you about the Rugged Concrete. I’m thinking of using it on our island bench but I’m a little worried about finger marks and cleaning. I’ve read lots of bad reports about the other Caesarstone concretes like Fresh,Raw and Sleek. And I’m hoping Rugged Concrete is easy to clean. How is yours now that you’ve had it for a little while?

As you guessed , I just express my opinion . Some agree , some don't . Some houses which I have sold 20 years ago are still in the same decor , other people may not have purchased . I prefer a planned colour pallette and something that has a Wow , and I definitely won't have the same colour walls and ceilings all through a property . Some fast food restaurants do have the same colour all the way through , but even they tend to have white ceilings or similar . I do have a ( small ) stainless deep fryer that does great chips though ! As far as texture goes , I 100% guarantee I would have more texture than this house , to use the obvious comparison . That is why , if you go back up to my original post , I suggested a feature wall of wallpaper , and a painting -- texture and colour . I don't like grey or beige as primary colours , and in fact don't consider them pastels either , but thats pointless arguing semantics . I wouldn't have that combo , the OP would -- good on her . If houzz only had people that agree , it may be very boring .

Hi, I am not professional in designing but I would like to swap the living and dinning area, then dinning would be closer to the kitchen. With the current plan I would use the long wall with TV socket for TV unit, maybe a tall narrow display cabinet in the corner close to the window. . then I would put the modular lounge parallel to the kitchen counter and only one extra seat and may be an ottoman or a bean bag in case if extra seat required (I'm not a big fan of beanbags though :) )

Thank you so much for your advice! That sounds great. The only reservation I have is this room is the only living room in the house and I think the wall might be to small or at a weird angle for a tv.

Have you ever come across innovative ideas for hanging a tv in an awkward position?

Hi angemile, I too would try the tv where the bar cabinet is & have the two seater on the longer wall with one single chair beside window & the other one turned toward the tv. The bar cabinet around the corner on the short wall facing the other door perhaps? Artwork above the 2 seater would make this the first thing you see as suggested by Simone.

You can get wall mounted tv brackets from JB Hi-Fi that both pull out & swivel, so you could mount it next to the window (above where the bar unit is now) & then when it is in use you simply pull the tv forward & angle it sideways so it sits across the corner.
