A floor to ceiling cupboard would work well in this space. As mentioned in the above comment using Mirror on such a large surface in the bathroom could become a hassle to constantly keep clean. However if you do like to look of Mirror I do suggest a dark tinted mirror, as this would go quite nicely with the colour of your tiles and not look to harsh in the bathroom. For the doors a Pocket door system would work quite well! this is where the door is opened and then you can slide it back to be in line with the cabinetry. I would keep the colours of this cabinetry quite plain and stick to the same colour palette of the tiles. Goodluck !

We built about ten years ago. If you've ever read Susan Susanka's books about the "not so big house" concept, that's where we were coming from. The attention went into the efficient design of the house in relation to topography and orientation, and into the quality of fittings. We didn't want to have rooms we didn't use. So, 165 sq m, 3 bedrooms (one became the study), a small but very efficient g- shaped kitchen, open living/dining. We did have two bathrooms - one en suite, the other a combined bathroom /laundry - but while both had showers, neither had a tub. Bathrooms without tubs aren't very marketable to families with young kids, admittedly, but older folk often prefer showers. I do yhink having only one bathroom is problematic, but sticking with 3 beds, no study, isn't. We have an aging population looking for smaller, better houses.

LOVE that you noticed the vanity over the bath..a feature used in all my own bathrooms as it provides so much extra counter area, improves the look of the whole vanity and the space on the end of the bath under the extended counter is perfect to line up all our ducks (the same idea also goes well over a toilet)...BTW i noticed that i forgot to include an in-wall mirror doored medicine cabinet with the outside doors hinged in opposition (so you can see the back of your head!)... the medicine cabinet could be as wide as the vanity counter and built in wall 150mm deep with adjustable shelves is suitable for almost all bathroom storage including toilet rolls and with all that extra in wall storage it's worth considering a wall hung vanity that will allow floor space underneath for a waste bin, dirty clothes basket, set of scales, slippers etc and makes the room feel so much more spacious...best of luck with your new bathroom, the next challenge is which tiles and taps and soap dishes and towel rails etc etc??

Katherine, I am just curious about the look of the rest of your house? For example, what look is the kitchen and external look of house. I love your bathroom, but not sure if it would match the era of my house. I am beginning to think that in bathrooms, they really only look unique and have an extra "something" when the floors aren't the typical grey, charcoal, beige........not sure what to do yet with mine...
