Need help laundry/bathroom and studio
I currently have a bathroom and a laundry. The bathroom is accessed off the hall and there is a internal link between the bathroom and adjacent laundry at the eastern end of the house. The laundry also has an external door on to the back porch.
I want to move the laundry door to the west and extend the hallway so that the new door is internal off the hallway, allowing me to close the access between the two rooms. I also want to combine the laundry and bathroom into one room and use the other space as a studio. Both rooms have Windows well above bench height and the eastern end would be best served for a studio as it has more light
the laundry/bathroom must have a toilet and shower as it is our second bathroom. Stacked washing and drying ok. We are on a timber floor so can move plumbing.
i have attached a scale plan not showing internal walls as these will need to be reconfigured to allow the door to move as shown,

8 years agoHere is my latest layout thought. I was thinking the wall between toilet and vanity be only 1800 high to allow light flow and enable use of existing exhaust fan above shower for shower. Comments would be appreciated.m west wall would have laundry

Extend the hall to back door, take space from bathroom for a laundry cupboard accessible from new hall. Tuck shower into space next to laundry, accessed from bathroom of course.
Either leave studio open to hallway and gain the extra space or close off with sliding double doors from new hallway.
Only thing that I think would need to change may be the bathroom window. Could be changed to a narrow long window or a same width high window.

One house I lived in didn't have plaster anywhere, just pressboard for walls, the stuff notice boards are made from, so we wall papered as paint soaked in by the bucket load. then lived in a caravan and now a little relocatable cottage, a glorified caravan without wheels I say but now hubby and I are building our dream home, I have no decor or design education and have simply done my best with the plan and now the build. Great advice about making the home, warm, comfortable etc...and I'm doing what I want and not following trends BUT unfortunately at times I am truly paralized by indicision, too many choices of everything from interior colours to simple door handles and when I put my head down to sleep, my mind goes into overdrive, sleeping at times only a few hours a night ha-ha Still enjoying the process but it isn't that simple to follow your suggestions!!! Comments (22)Hi. This is the existing plan. Entrance is currently at front up four stairs (house on stumps). Or via back door on ground level that goes into current ground floor laundry. From laundry you walk up four steps into current dining. We are a family of five. Kids are now 8,6,4 - two youngest are in long side bedroom (has angled roofline), master bedroom is front middle room and oldest child is in bedroom that joins existing dining room. Kitchen is in the middle of the house (there’s a window to laundry from kitchen which would originally have been to outside before laundry enclosed and built in). We want to add another bedroom, deck and larger kitchen to cater for growing family but we are very limited with budget and need to do so smartly. House has high ceilings and VJ walls internally but fibro outside. Bathroom has been recently renovated. What we love about the house is that it is open and airy. The house will accommodate a reasonably fit and active retired couple in their 60s (us!). We have elderly Mums and expect that 1 of them will end up moving into the guest room/study (hence the desire to have a connection between this room and a shower/WC). We'd also like to be able to access the backyard and have visitors able to access the WC - although we accept that at times we can't have everything...although it's worth a shot! separate laundry and bathroom so can use both rooms at the same time..with a sliding door into cavity..wall where walk in shower is..

8 years agoI've redrawn..taking sttop's idea of extending the hallway to the back door..
I've kept the existing door..and added a sliding door from new hall way..that way you've got a way out to the back to hang the clothes or if you're in the studio and needed the loo you can just cross the hall way instead of going around the corner ..
