We personally like swing or pivot doors - easier to clean, space efficient and easy to assemble if you are doing it DIY. Alternatively you could use a glass screen and do away with the door all together if that's possible? Anything is possible if you really want it, however every solution has a cost and without knowing you full circumstance its hard to tell. So heres a few examples of typical fixes to discuss with your designer: With the right 'scabble' (breaking of concrete) you can create a setdown deep enough to 'screed' (thin layer of concrete applied to the new void) to get the falls required for a kerbless shower but this will depend on the current total cover of concrete (if you break out too much it can compromise the structure). If your home is on a 'joist and bearer system' (timber or steel frame) you could 'comp up' (increase the strength) of the supporting 'members' (frame structure) to reduce their depth which will give you a lowered floor area, then a 'topping compound' (similar to screed) could be applied to the new set down to create the falls. Likewise changing the placement of the joists from 'stacked' to 'inline' could provide the same outcome without the need of comping up. My walk in was well over a metre deep and width was a couple of metres to the wall. The glass screen was a metre and a bit so there was no splashing into the room. The shower came off the end wall same as the pic however it was one of those variable height showers on a rod, I have no doubt the shower in the pic will be splashing into the room which would drive me nuts. Mine looked great, so open, neat, big, except the floor hadn't been layed properly so instead of the water going toward the drain under the shower head it went all over the bathroom, nearly 3 metres out right down to the loo creating a massive puddle in front of the vanity as well. Getting it sorted with the builder was nightmare I eventually gave up and ended up having a low barrier installed from glass to wall. It still looked fine and stopped the problem but one really has to ensure the floor angle is done properly before embarking on the walk-in shower exercise.

I am struggling to find any pictures of where someone has the shower fittings higher than their shower screen to see how odd it actually would look like. One of my 101 learnings about getting the wrong tradesperson to "project manage" my bathroom renovation (until he went MIA), was not voicing louder to the plumber's assistant who actually did the shower connections, that what the "project manager" had suggested for heights of shower connections was way too high. I had actually double-checked it on the previous weekend with a friend and we both thought that it needed to be lowered by 100-150 mm, but when I said this to the "project manager" he ignored me as did the plumber assistant who made the connections....I know how a handheld shower only (which is all I wanted) fitting that is at 2070mm in one bathroom and 2020mm in the other bathroom. As there is no shower rail (because I wanted things to look simple), I get my daily stretches just to reach the handheld shower.....I am happy with the progress of my bathroom, except for all of the stuffups caused by this particular "tradesperson/project manager". We live and learn....I can't do anything about what has happened, but can only minimise the impact where possible and learn from all the things that went wrong, if there is ever a next time. I should make a list of the learnings once bathroom is finished.
