Exterior paint colour help
I have the interior colour scheme sorted but because of funds I can only paint the exterior and have to keep the colour of the roof. I was told that painting the roof would be hard and a waste of money.
So my question is... Can anyone help me with colours that go with the roof colour because i'm fresh out of ideas.
(We move into the house in June, so I would like to be prepared)

Comments (14)Hi, I like the overall concept of the darkish grey, it suits the home. I am a colour consultant and have been working with the Dulux range for 17 years and you are on the right track with the Guild Grey. The Dulux Signature will give you a dark blue house. Another option if Simone Weil which is just a bit lighter than the Guild Grey, if you find that one too dark. Sample pots and A4 brush outs onto white cardboard are the best way to decide, because computer programs give an overall impression of the "look" but are not accurate with colour choices, you can't beat the human eye. Comments (20)Another amateur vote for Powdered Rock. I wonder what Double Strength Powdered Rock would look like. I recall the old adage: choose the colour you REALLY like and halve the strength for interior and double it for exterior. The outside colours tend to get lost. Might be interesting. Though of course the choice of exterior depth of colour is dictated by need for either reflection for heat reduction or absorption for warmth. And contradicting myself, really dark colours tend to fade more apparently over many years, making touch up matching more tricky, though modern paint lasts for so many years if well applied. I don't mind it, tbh. : ) It looks like some images I've seen of colorbond Sandbank, but I'm really not sure.
Super easy face-lift is to paint out utility boxes and down pipe to same as existing wall colour. Paint windows architraves white. Replace awnings with light colour ones. And yes, add some colour with front door. You'll save time and money that can be put into all the things that will crop up after you move in. Establish a garden (not cheap!) so that is well on it's way for if / or when you do a full paint job.
Having said all that, i found another possible colour combo if you're going to get the full works done now.
