georgi02 "follow some simple guidelines, the ones that people frequently aren't told when buying wall gardens and you end up finding out the hard way" Plant walls are fashionable and seem ideal for small spaces but it would be good if the stores that sell the bits and pieces told people it's not just a trendy decor item, it needs some gardening expertise. mutcherson, is there any space between that deck and the fence? IMO the most successful low-maintenance gardening is the right choice of plant growing in the ground. As soon as you start messing around with unusual plants, unusual containers, unusual locations, you start having additional challenges. But I reckon if you want it's worth having another try with a wall using georgi02 's instructions. Succulents are easy to grow from cuttings and forgiving of lack of water. When you take cuttings of succulents you are supposed to put them aside for a while before potting them and I have found pieces I forgot I cut weeks earlier and managed to grow them. I have had some problems with succulents but that was because of frost so you you won't have that challenge.

Do you know if it is clumping or running bamboo? I've grown to love our little clump of clumping bamboo. Recently, I pruned back all the old culms, divided and transplanted it along our back fence near the cubby house. It has quickly reestablished and is doing a great job of screening out the neighbours higgle-piggle of sheds. I can see that yours needs some pruning ton thin it out and show off the stems, but you might find that you can create an attractive, instant and cost effective screen to be a uniform backdrop to some new feature plants in pots (bamboo can look good in a classic garden but I have to agree that bamboo and roses aren't the best combination)

my daughter in law was advised by the pool company not to plant bamboo as once established they do shedd quite a lot and as stated above a root barrier is essential and if leaves not cleaned out of pool will eventually cause trouble clogging the filtration, they planted a pleached hedge and magnolias in large tubs and it looks beautiful, I love the look of bamboo but just be wary , if you are a gardener like me you will sweep up your leaves daily so it's really a matter of choice as to the amount of work you wish to do, good luck, it looks a lovely area.

The bed needs more pillows with texture and patterns. Add black highlights in the accessories. Also get a lamp for the side table and a tray for accessories etc candles, vase. A few accessories for the desk like a hand-shaped jewelry holder etc. The things that will make the room less boring will be a rug with a visually appealing and exciting pattern (not a solid colour), a chair (the more interesting the better) , new bedding will create a focal point and accessories for the side table and desk. Go to freedom or adairs etc and they'll be staff members to help you choose out furniture, accessories, bedding etc. Show them your pictures and speak to them and they'll know how to help.
