Comments (3)What sort of floors do you have? What shape is your kitchen and where is the fridge? I think an all black kitchen is most suited to a large space with a lot of natural light. If you have that it will be fine. :) In a small space without natural light, it may look dark and the black gloss may be a little overwhelming. If you have a kitchen with a defined back wall, another wall to the left/right and an island, you might want to put the gloss fridge and cupboards all down the side wall and on the island, and use a contrasting colour for the other cupboards. Perhaps a timber or grey timber look laminate and off white to warm up the space and bring in a bit of light. Depending on what you do and do not like as well as what is going to be reflected, a mirror splash may bring in a little more light as well. Goodluck with it all....See MoreCheap kitchen renovation
Comments (16)Glass splashbacks are fine but the cheaper ones available at Bunnings cannot be used above the hob and you would need a stainless steel or tiled section there. (This was the case a couple of years ago - they may have updated their range since to a thicker product). If you haven't priced splashbacks you are in for a shock as glass is expensive in the thicker grade needed for a seamless look. If this is your forever home, go glass. Otherwise the white tiles are inoffensive although the floor tiles won't be easy to keep clean. I think I'd choose to spend my money on something else there. Being a slave to floor tiles is no fun in my experience....See MoreGlass splash back colour?
Comments (35)Thank you everyone, your thoughtful advice was very welcome. I'm attaching a photo as its all finished. I selected Olive Reserve for the splash back and painted the wall above it the same colour. As its a big room with lots of light and a large window it doesn't dominate. The glass is so easy to keep clean and I love the way it reflects the garden and light. Have to say though some people are stunned into silence when they see it, but as the cupboards and bench tops are quite bland I knew something bright was needed...See MoreBathroom vanity & splash back colour dilemma
Comments (7)Hi ysteb1 I found a tile that looks like a light beach style hardwood from National Tiles. They are long (1200mm) and narrow but I think the look will be nice. They are suitable for a bathroom so going to try them out....See Morelshirven
