Comments (37)Hi iggs85 as it is an older kitchen I would not spend a huge amount of money on a revamp. It is definitely possible to paint laminate but good preparation is vital to ensure the paint 'sticks'. However a quality painter is going to charge you about the same as your resurfacing quote. Using either a painter or a resurfacing company does let you choose any colour though. The biggest disadvantage of the current benchtop is the bullnose which is very dated. From your photo, the colour and pattern look OK but you could get a stone 'overlay' put on it. They square off the bullnose so it looks more contemporary. An acrylic feature panel on the return is another alternative to vinyl planks. It looks like glass, comes in a good range of colours and is relatively inexpensive compared to glass. See http://zenolite.com/range as an example. You can buy acrylic sheets from Bunnings. You could also use pressed metal panels as a feature eg. http://www.wunderlite.com.au/catalogue/details/1/79/pressed-metal-crystal?start=25 Add some new handles on doors and drawers too....See MoreBlack cabinetry Vs White.... Comments (16)Hi Renae, thanks for using our photo in relation to the black and white cabinet work. I think that the black/white is certainly a time-less look, you will be able to add any colour with it as trends change. The client worked with a satin 2PAC on this job, we do not recommend a matt 2PAC as it will give a chalkboard appearance. Another point to note is that the black may show any chips easier while the paint is still curing, so be sure to get a pot of touch up paint for any small incidents. If you haven't already had a look at the full portfolio of this job, please do so. All of the cabinet work is black and white throughout the house....See MoreHelp me choose the perfect grey for my kitchen cabinets
Comments (69)You are kind to say that, Julie. Hubby also washed and polished the floorboards in the two rooms we decided to retain. They look much better as well. This has been fun project; don't quite know what I'll do with myself after it's completed! :) although, in saying that, there is the garden here to keep us occupied...!...See MoreSpray paint vs hand painting for a bathroom cabinet; chalk paint??
Comments (2)can't advise about the best paint but suggest you take one of the doors or drawers to a specialist paint shop and ask them (not basic hardware store)...you won't need much paint so the best quality to suit the job will be a worthwhile investment...should be a simple easy job but would imagine that brush painting will be safer and less messy for the walls but you could spray doors and drawers outside for a different finish but the paint specialist should be able to give best advice and would love to see the finished job and learn what product you chose...See Morekarenannev
