Comments (11)Hello Karly, It looks like you may be planning a change in wall colour - I would go ahead and do this then think about the curtains. You may be able to have a bolder colour which helps have a dramatic feel or go lighter - Resene have a good range of whites which can be done in double or triple strength. Check out his link as it gives you a range of looks using neutrals.http://www.resene.co.nz/ebooks/HabitatPlus06/index.html?page=1 The latest Resene habitat on line home of the week shows some interesting options if you are interested in blue / green/ grey hues such as 'Inside Back' http// habitatbyresene.co.nz/lee-kristin-modern-barn-life Curtains should hang full height and puddle a little on the floor but not too long as you have an access way with the door and need to safely walk past the other window. Pelmets are unnecessary and won't give the softness required but an inverted pleat heading gives a tailored finish with the same effect. Look at a natural linen look sheers as real linen tends to rot and is more expensive. You are better with a cheaper polyester linen look as it is more durable - and less likely to shrink if washed. Traditional curtains are more likely to date depending on the pattern. All the best....See MoreWhat's the best window furnishing for double glazed windows?
Comments (4)Thanks for this suggestion. I need to be as snug as possible in the cold winter months here in Beechworth, ( the rest of the year is glorious), and I'm looking for the most effective insulation for the windows. I believed cellular blockouts would achieve this, but then thought Double glazing + blockout might be "over the top". I can't see draped curtains being so effective; perhaps I might settle for the blinds, and add some curtains for decorative effect. I can pay $3000.00 if they will achieve the insulation I need....See MoreWindow furnishings?
Comments (7)Amanda, it looks like you are having a pergola built as part of the extension. Is that right? It looks like some form of roofing has yet to be done for it. ?? Will want to take this into consideration when choosing exactly how much light you want to filter. I must say I do like look of the blinds shown above, especially ones with filter options and mounted under cornice....See MoreWanting advice on window furnishings
Comments (0)I am currently looking at replacing the window furnishings in our living/dining room. I'm just not really sure what avenue to pursue. We live in a small town outside of Brisbane with beautiful views of the hills and whilst privacy isn't really an issue, the summer sun does hit this side of the house which turns it into an oven for the day. I love the look of s wave sheers and I'm thinking of pairing those with blockout roller blinds (and panel curtains in the same fabric for the sliding door) to protect against the sun during summer. If I go with this option, should I hang the sheers from the ceiling or just above the window frame? If I go with the latter, how much higher from the window frame should I go? I'm also open to any other suggestions anyone might have for alternative window coverings!...See MoreLesleyH
