Why not use some of her art work on the walls, in different size and style frames (natural, black, white & silver) - you can pick up some cheap frames in the op shop and the bargain stores - just buy some spray paint, and have fun - let your artist help....... you can even photograph some of her art work and have it blown up to poster size - the brighter the better. I'd suggest painting the walls white, with maybe a feature wall a timber bed head - one with a book shelf would be great - a double of course - the room is big enough. A rug to anchor the bed and some funky cushions. An Eames DSW white retro chair and a small white desk with some floating white shelves for odds and ends.... I'd probably get a white roller blind for the window, and paint the door, wardrobe doors and skirtings white, and a lovely large retro style light fitting in the middle of the room, or a hanging pendant next to the bed. A small bedside table - try Ikea - they have a great range, and not too expensive, you may even be able to get a great bedhead there - she sounds a very practical girl, so no frills. You want a young, fresh, modern look. Place the artwork randomly, in groups, on the walls - hang paper cut outs on the walls with blue tack, to see the effect, before you put up the art - Your artist could help with that too. Hi, I don’t know if this helps but in out Reno we did last year we chose lexicon quarter for our walls. I don’t regret it as it suits what we did style wise, and it is a ground floor apartment so needs the extra brightness for reflection - it was previously painted hogbristle and looked really dingy and dark. I agree with the above comment that lexicon is stark. For our new house I’ve gone with Surfmist outside and a warm light grey inside - so two warm tones, but that’s because I wanted a more cozy feel as opposed to a fresh and bright feel. I don’t think it matters on outside vs inside though, I think it really depends on your furnishings and fixtures/floors etc. For example I personally wouldn’t paint my house lexicon if all of my furniture was rich wood and warm tones.

I like the colours you’ve suggested. I find neutrals restful. Do you have a sample of your cabinetry? An easy way to get a coordinated look, without whites clashing, is to have the white colour matched at the paint shop to the cabinetry. The colour match will tell you if White Beach is on the right track. I’d consider a more plainer white for the trim ie Natural White as suggested above or Berkshire White. For your splashback - could the budget stretch to the benchtop material? If not a tile colour that picks up one of the benchtop fleck colours will give you a coordinated look. Sounds lovely. Hi there, If you want to keep it very soft and light then Terrace White a great choice. If stark is your concern its a great opportunity to add some more interest with colour/depth. Colour wise, something to compliment the terracotta but sits well with grey could be Dulux Snow Season Quarter or Subdue Half. Darker you could try Wet clay or match the darkest colour in the marble vein. Please check paint samples first.
