I love a good design challenge & you CAN make this sink work for you! I don't know what your design aesthetic is, but I see this working in a contemporary or transitional style bathroom. For the sink, choose an under-mounted model & place it beneath a 1-1/4" thick, solid surface countertop made of engineered quartz such as Silestone or Zodiaq. Mount your faucet to the wall & you've made a design statement! Cabinets doors can be slab for contemporary, shaker for transitional. Just be sure that your vanity is deep enough to accommodate this sink. You can always order a kitchen sink base & modify it for the bathroom. Standard rule of thumb: - kitchen cabinets are typically 24" deep & 36" high - bathroom cabinets are 21" deep & 34" high Good luck! ~LMM

I hated the wasted space of a laundry so much, we opted to put the washing machine in the bathroom. Washing is sorted and folded in the family room, whilst watching TV. Makes the task less dull and from there it can go to the correct side of the house, as the family room is the hub. Ironing is done in front of the TV, where necessary, although the clean washing is removed to each person's room first. Each person does their own ironing as they prefer. I stopped doing it for everybody years ago. If the can cook and clean, they can iron. Linen has specified storage centrally. Each bathroom has storage for towels etc. It was designed around how we like to live, when we built.

Consider the sightline from outside the laundry room. With the second option if both doors are left option do you see the toilet from a living area? There is not enough information on the plan to see what room is adjacent to the laundry. If you do decide to go with option 2 ensure that you use a single switched exhaust fan/light unit in the ceiling, so that when somebody visits the loo and turns on the light then the exhaust fan turns on while the light is on. One of my clients had a similar internal room for a powder room and I designed an internal high light window to the powder room that borrowed some natural light from the adjacent bathroom. A small window with a sill at 1800mm above the floor level on the wall behind the toilet cistern would "borrow" some natural light from the laundry and still provide adequate privacy for option 2. Hi I have a large bathroom with a closet for washer and dryer. I love it. Off my bedroom. But also have you thought about making study into bedroom with an en-suite and the laundry tucked in there behind doors. If your selling a bedroom downstairs for an older person its very attractive and nice to be separate from the others. Then the two bedrooms upstairs have there own bathroom. Also you are having toilet tucked under staircase for visitors. If you had heaps of space then yes have a separate laundry but it’s a waste of space when you haven’t. I have my laundry essentials in a cupboard under my bathroom vanity which is 1800 cm long and still have two 1m drawers next to cupboard.
