Entry hall lighting
Comments (2)You can get an electric hoist for your light. We have a 1.8 meter high chandelier in our front entry. It has an electric hoist mounted in the roof, that is rated to 100kg, and comes with it's own remote control...See MoreHelp with our first home!
Comments (5)We have so many ideas for this home! Your first step needs to be to establish your budget. Then list the items you want to fix in priority order. Note that some renovations will be a LOT easier to do before you move in, and others will be easy to do afterwards. Externally - I would remove the front retaining wall and replace with limestone. I would consider replacing windows and making them larger too and redesigning the front to create a more inviting and obvious entrance. Internally - the big ticket items are always kitchens and bathrooms and these are much easier to do before you move in. Retiling the main living area would make a big difference as would a repaint and new window furnishings. We could go on....but I am guessing that as it is a new home your budget will be limited. Best of luck, it is an exciting time in your life!...See MoreNeed inspiration....
Comments (3)I'd grow climbers in pots at the base of your columns and let the climbing plant hide the columns - I'd also be tempted to put a planter box under your window to extend the green. Warm coloured timber planter boxes would come up a treat against your light walls. You could also do hanging baskets either side of your columns if the structure permits. Louie T is correct - replace what is purely a functional entrance light with one a little more decorative, fix up the door and clean off and/or tile the floor. You might also want to think about changing your screen door to one an amplimesh (or similar style screen) that removes the obvious white grill you've got now. Think about naming your home and giving your home a sign displaying it's name. house name signs is a great way to introduce visual appeal and put your stamp on your house. If your household tends to leave shoes/boots/thongs at the door - provide seat next to the front door where they can take off their shoes/boots and leave them under the seat rather than adhoc all around the front door....See MoreExterior House Colour Help
Comments (9)Hello, I would recommend to consider going with a dark charcoal, (monument is a colour often used.) People often shy away from dark colours, thinking the building will stand out too much. In actual fact the dark blue tones of a colour like monument, mimic the tones found in natural stones like bluestone. Its actually very calming and integrates with the natural environment. Often light colours make houses stand out and feel very bulky and defined. Dark colours work beautifully with greenery. It creates a much more bali kind of vibe as opposed to a Miami kind of vibe. I like the previous idea of bronze planters to help tie in the bronze fly screens. I would also seriously consider planting the front of the garden out a bit. Possibly consider a water feature / pond with water plants and flowering trees around. The house is dated and feel exposed, which means it could do with some smoke and mirrors, tricks to spark the imagination. At the moment what you see is what you get, if you know what I mean. I would also consider adding a lasor cut decorative screen on the side of the carport, so that the whole property is not so exposed. It would introduce an extra element that introduces a lovely play of light and creates softness and charm. SUMMARY :Make the garden more romantic, change the colour of the house, add the lasor cut screen and add the pot plants and I think you will easily achieve a really pleasing aesthetic. Good luck with it....See Morezaffa
