We have a super king doona and I've hand sewn 5 ribbon loops to the inside top of the cover (just above the seam so it doesn't show on the outside), and one midway on each side. I've then sewn ribbon ties to the corresponding points on doona itself. By tying them together, it makes washing and changing covers a breeze, not to mention keeping the doona in place. Like others, I use a top sheet as well, so my cover is washed probably every two months or so... (Depends whether the cat throws up on it - it's been washed twice this week so far! )

A summer must have for me is a big glass jug — whether it's used to hold infused water or a fruity cocktail to share, it's something I'll definitely be buying to ensure I stay hydrated.

if it's only ten years old it should be modern cement fibre sheets without asbestos and is usually a single thickness framed wall instead of the double thickness of a brick veneer wall ... to save space and the sheets may need cover strips over joints and ongoing painting and potentially less insulation inside the walls
