As we don't park our car in the carport, I'm thinking to replace the roof with transparent material and put transparent curtain or fly screens around it to make it a sunroom. But is that a good idea?
gorgeous spot, too good for the car but i wonder if a transluscent roof could make it too hot and what about bugs.?..we enclosed a covered pergola with black Sarlon cloth to make a bug free room with a simple hinged flyscreen door for access..it's a great success and the Sarlon made the space warmer in cold weather and cooler in hot..we enclosed the 7m x 5m space for less than $300 and alway intended to add the plastic roller blinds but found it wasn't needed although your space may be more exposed..good luck with it
insulated corrugated Colorbond steel roof with a galvanised corrugated steel ceiling as we were aiming to keep it cool/warm without a standard painted ceiling..we added one 75cm wide transluscent panel to add extra light over a kitchen window as our room is enclosed on 3 sides. Your space doesn't look big enough to have a problem with darkness but you may need to be careful not to improve/change it too much without Council approval. Our screens are made of black Sarlon stretched and stapled over timber frames (like a giant flyscreen) and the screens are then screwed to the framework of the pergola... quick and easy to install and remove for moving big furniture in and out
