@ Henrietta Scholtz!!!! And your BOAT. Amid the banter that often erupts on these forums for reasons that are never really clear to me...(and in which I enjoy particepating just for the fun of it), I've been wondering what if an colour scheme you have decided on for the decor of your boat! Any ideas from among those we suggested? Somehow your poll got hijacked with the non- boat decorating banter but I've had your boat in mind most of the time...wishing that I could be maybe a little hook or a rope so I could come on your adventures undetected and enjoy the decor with which you have embellished your seafaring craft and home. I'd not considered it at all because it was a bit "off the wall"...but...that PINK that came up for discussion on another subject led me to consider a colour scheme of Mustard, Beige, and Mint...with little splashes of an unexpected colour...like that Lipstick Pink...or maybe other groups of colours that are 'accepting' of each other but with a little "wild" splash of the unexpected...a bit like when the sunlight reflects through a splash of water ahd just for an instant you see something brilliant and magical. I've even got my palette and paints out intrigued by the "splash colour" that should not fit with traditional combinations but somehow does.....just a thought. It would be lovely to see any ideas you liked put into practise according to your individual interpretation. I am sure I echo the sentiments of other artistic contributors to your project - Will you tell us and maybe send Pics of any developments? Anyone else who has the good fortune to have a boat would also be welcome here, I am sure, to put forward any creative ideas. How about it Henrietta?

If you are on a tight budget I would do the following: Change the handles on the cabinet. This is inexpensive and makes a massive difference. You can buy cheap handles from bunnings/ikea, I have even seen them at kmart Consider a pot plant between the cabinet and shower with a nice luscious plant like a peace lilly or something similar If you can stretch your budget maybe consider changing the tapware? This may cost a bit as you would need a plumber. I did read somewhere you can spray paint the taps but you need special paint, this would be a lot cheaper than getting new taps. Changing the cistern may be expensive but places like kmart and ikea have great wooden/bamboo covers that act as a shelf to go over the toilet semi disguising it which you can then use for more storage. If your budget stretches I would get a new mirror but if not its not a big deal. Also maybe a nice floor matt, could go bamboo/wood to match the toilet cover. Great question siriusky! In the laundry the cabinetry is a white with a careaera marble tops. The splashback will be white subway tiles. So I am thinking black handles and a black or very dark floor, (knowing it will show everything. In the first bathroom, there is a Tasmanian wood (Macrocarpa) bench that runs the length of a wall with a white basin on top. The shower in this room has a white base fitted so I am looking for wall tiles and a floor tile and am keen to carry the dark theme through and run it up the wall behind the wood and the basin but something much lighter to form the wall of the shower and behind the toilet. The 4th wall I will paint. The 2cnd bathroom, again dark tiles on the floor, the walk-in shower needs to be lighter color along with the walk-in toilet. There is a spa and double basins which again sit on a macrocarpa wood top. So wood white and hopefully a dark floor.

Some great comments and thoughts from you all. Trends are a consumer marketing tool to encourage you to continually spend and buy their products... A home should be a living curation of things you love that work for you and nobody else. Yes there are some design principles you can follow but these are a guide and should be considered along with the space, it's purpose, the light, the people and much more. Instead of buying more, consider what you have and carefully select things to complement them - update by changing things around and making sure YOU love the style and it suits the way YOU live!
