I once picked what I thought was a soft orange red for our bed room. It turned out to be Home Depot orange. As my husband refuses to paint a room more often than every 5 years, we lived with that orange. At least I was mostly there with the lights out, and it did make our north facing bedroom more cheerful. But for some reason we found ourselves at Home Depot much more often then!

Hi Catherine, to help others make suggestions that will be suitable, would you be able to post a drawing of your room please - wall sizes & where the windows/doors are positioned? That way your space can be personalized for you. I think feature walls can look really good in certain spaces... but I think if you like it, do it :) it can easily be repainted over, especially if you have concerns down the track of resale... do what you love & what makes you happy- it will make your office space a happy place that you’ll want to be in & will bring out the best in you & your work :) I’ll be personally interested in responses about a good chair to save your back too... have you found any ergonomic chairs you like? I think your chair purchase will need to be done in store vs online so you can sit on a few & make sure they are a good fit for you & your spine, especially as you’ll be sitting in it for extended periods. As for gadget recommendations, I’m as untech savvy as they come lol - again I’ll be following with interest :)

Hi Louise, I did a little mock up for you. I would look at using some more greys and whites and brightening up the room. I mimicked your lamp and just "sprayed it gold" and changed the shade colours to draw your eye up to the artwork. I liked the bedding so played off that a little and added more textures and I love black, white, grey together, super chic and glam. It's amazing what a lick of paint can do. You would need to get permission to do anything to the woodwork, if you're a tenant its maybe best to leave it as is. I dont know what colours the other walls are but if theyre neutral enough you could leave them as is. Hope you like my attempt and happy to answer any q's.
