Hi Juliahocking - thanks for the ideas! Sorry I saw your comments on the weekend and then forgot to come back and update after I had moved the furniture around. I like the idea of moving the sofa and creating two separate spaces within the room. The problem is that the section of the room with the blank wall doesn't have a tv point so would need to get that installed. I moved one of the couches there to face the wall and it felt a little bit cramped, and the other section of the room seemed to have a lot of space to fill without the second couch. Is this what you meant? I found the photos from the real estate listing to show the previous owners set up, they might give a better indication of the space? We moved the TV to the corner because we didn't like it blocking the window, but i don't think the corner is ideal either. Do you think it would work to have a couple of chairs in the "dining" section of the room, or would that be strange to be facing to the back of the couch? Would love any ideas to make the windows prettier. I love the outlook but the brown screens and frames are not very attractive! Timandra Design and Landscaping - thanks! I wasn't sure about a rug on top of carpet but thought it could be a good way to break up the space and add some colour. I am planning to return that rug on the weekend and continue my search! I agree I love the green outlook and it is really nice to lie on the couch and look out (while wondering how to set up the room!) :)

Hi Adriana, your room is very nice (love your rug and coffee table). My only suggestion is that it does feels as though the room is overcrowded with too much of the SAME furniture ie. the grey, tufted pieces. Changing out your 2-seater for something in leather would really warm the space and add interest (I'd choose a brown tone to blend with your lovely buffet there) - I would also perhaps recover the ottoman in a different fabric, something you love that adds a touch more colour and your unique personality to the space. As you said you enjoy interior styling, and your flair for it shows already, I'm sure you can create a stunning room with just a few changes. Love to see pics of the final result!!

Hey Kel, amazing room and lovely pieces. It looks like you have done lots of work already. I found I got trapped pushing furniture against walls as I also have a big room like this. I agree with the comment about bringing the chairs and sofa in toward the room a little. You could use a feature rug with some of the blue and green colours from the sofa and chairs to "ground" the space. It can look great if the rug is large enough for the seating to fit on it. I think that a great addition would also be an ottoman and central coffee table, a potted fiddle leaf fig and maybe a cool magazine holder and cushions for the seating would be awesome. The only other thing I can't recall what overhead lighting you have in the big room but finding a great pendant light- a big statement shape would be another thing to think about. You do have some great ones in the kitchen already. Go crazy!

I am coming in very late to this discussion. But is there enough room in your space to move the furniture like this? I have moved your wooden coffee table where the couch is, and moved the cabinet so it is not the first thing you see as you enter. Moving the grey side tables to form one “modular” table creates a uniform look that doesn’t sacrifice functionality. The marble side table would then be used next to the other couch (as the cabinet is where it used to be) I would also take up the whole space between the aircon and the floor to hang your ‘family’ picture frames. The gorgeous plant is then placed on top of the coffee table to become the hero in the space. I noticed you used a grey soft looking throw blanket on the couch to the right. Is it possible to get matching versions of this to cover the sofa against the wall for the dogs? The texture and colour of the sheets you are currently using is what disconnects your lovely couch from the rest of the space. Regardless of what artworks you choose to use for above the couch, having a darker frame will help to ground them in the space. The white frames are getting lost against the white brick wall at the moment. You have great taste in furniture, it seems to be editing the layout of the space that is not quite working in your zone.
