What sort of floors do you have? What shape is your kitchen and where is the fridge? I think an all black kitchen is most suited to a large space with a lot of natural light. If you have that it will be fine. :) In a small space without natural light, it may look dark and the black gloss may be a little overwhelming. If you have a kitchen with a defined back wall, another wall to the left/right and an island, you might want to put the gloss fridge and cupboards all down the side wall and on the island, and use a contrasting colour for the other cupboards. Perhaps a timber or grey timber look laminate and off white to warm up the space and bring in a bit of light. Depending on what you do and do not like as well as what is going to be reflected, a mirror splash may bring in a little more light as well. Goodluck with it all.

Hi! I think your lighting choice should be influenced by what you see as the focal point of the space. If you have spectacular views out your windows, you may not want eye catching different sized pendant lighting fighting with the view. However, being west facing, you may have the top part of the window wall shaded with awnings or a verandah - therefore your lighting would not distract from the view. Maybe also think about what is going on below the lighting area: think about the overall style you are going for in the room: are the furnishings minimalistic so therefore could do with some eye catching lighting? or do you have spectacular artworks or an eyecatching coffee table? If so, dimmable, LED downlights could be the answer instead of feature lighting. Too many "wow" factors can confuse the eye and create a sense of unease. Hope that did not confuse you further!! This is going to come down to what your space is like, light, how you use the kitchen, how does it relate to other areas of the house ie. is it open plan, so needs to complement other areas such as dining & family? Here are a few examples of backsplashes with concrete benchtops. Depends on your personal style & taste as to what appeals to you. My 1st reaction was marble, it would give interest & movement but without knowing what else you have going on in the room...
