We are building a new pool and need some advise to the tiling/coping. Really love to have a seamless tile look around the pool. Less grout and a square edge coping (20mm) I know people have used normal porcelain outdoor tiles that can have a coping. Really love to have bigger tiles (800's) however I have been advised porcelain tiles may not have the longevity in the pool water and if they have a really rough surface can stain easily? Also interested in Granite tiles in 800's but can take 3 months to order and have to be custom made. May even consider Bluestone. We have a wooden deck and I feel a light colour tile would go against it nicely. Have attached an image of what I like but not sure what they used. We would probably use the same amount of tiling. Any suggestions or past experiences.? Thank you in advance Jenny

Just because your builder doesn't normally use a material doesn't mean it shouldn't be used. Builders often like to only use what they are used to and what they know will work well as they have used it on a previous job. Just make sure that your tile selection has a suitable edge for a pool, often called a coping tile, which is sometimes rounded and thicker. A standard square edge tile risks chipping if the square edge is exposed at the edge of the pool. Do your research, find some examples in real life and go with the best solution for the issue, which is not necessarily what your builder wants. Too often I meet unhappy homeowners who wanted one thing and their builder bullied them into something else (often as it was easier for the builder to install) to their long term regret. As long as your have researched it, and understand the issues so you can make an informed decision. Agree, i had a light sandstone and loved it current pool is more terracotta tiles and copers and is a bit hot in the sun to be honest
