Comments (11)I like the clay toned greys in your artwork, the abstract art provides the palette, although it is reminiscent of finger painting, so I would introduce pottery or ceramic decor, possibly a geometric, sculptured ceramic lamp base instead of those modern stems, they have little character, adding pottery lamp bases would double as art in the form of sculpture, and cluster some items of interest on the bedsides. It would benefit from timbers, natural tones, not he dark rich colours that already exist, in contrast, softer honey toned oaks, perhaps a nice timber tray on one side table,or even a timber digital clock. Te bed needs layers of texture, using these grey tones, a mid grey chunky cable knit throw, crisp white sheets, charcoal linen cover etc, layer up cushions with this abstract kr geometric print in these simple monochromatic tones. The greys are blue based, so introduce some navy in your linen. I think the best way to add interest into a guest room, is with the side tables, they don't have to match, or should have multi purposes, like housing books, or a throw etc. And if your corners could allow, introduce a plant, perhaps an indoor palm, green lofe always adds comfort to an otherwise empty guest bedroom....See MoreColour advice for bedroom curtains
Comments (28)yes. stallion looks like it is in a sample hanger with all or most of the various colours available. your other photo with the 6 or so swatches looks like all warwick samples. The Bleecker pleat does look interesting. I haven't seen it in Australia. Just remember any 'different' headings will substantially increase your making cost. Making cost is usually not unreasonable in Australia in my opinion as we have regulated wages etc. so making will change depending on how much labour will be involved. the most 'flexible' cost with curtains is your fabric as fabric cost can have a very wide range as you have no doubt discovered. but the making cost is the same whether the fabric cost $25 per metre or $250. the labour is the same....See MoreCLOSED: Vote & Comment to win a Sheridan Gift Pack (RRP $750)

Comments (27)I was just looking over all the advice and the drawings that have been done for me showing how paint would look in various places. Thank you so much everyone for the time and help that you have given me - plus your honest opinions. I have decided that over the long term, all of the raw timber on the walls will go, but I may also remove a section of the wall joining kitchen to loungeroom. I am not sure whether it will be removed and sheeted or whether it will be sheeted over in some places, and painted in others. What I decide is going to determine what the architraves and window frames look like, because to sheet over the timber means that the current architraves will not be thick (deep) enough. A carpenter has already suggested just using painted MDF due to the difficulty in getting timber architraves at present and their cost. These are decisions that I am not ready to make yet. I have no idea whether it would be best to keep timber window frames and door frames or whether to just have white. Your opinion on this would be appreciated too. For now, the lounge room and entry wall will be painted. The undercoat will start to tell me whether all white or black and white is better. I have a painter coming tomorrow to start. I will be doing some painting too, but I know he will prepare it a lot better than me....See MoreLaura Lee Designs
