Need help renovating bathroom
Comments (8)Great room. The paintwork, bulkhead and black aluminum window look contemporary, so updating the colour scheme will completely renew this bathroom. I would remove the tiles on the wall of the vanity, including the bath area, and actually have a glazier I stall a mirror from the bench top right across the room, thus negating the need for tiling at all, and just lengthening the space and light. Then all you need to worry about are the bath surround tiles. Luckily there are loads of options, from DIY to designer and many in between. I saw a tile product on houzz called xlight that can be applied right over existing tiles, as long as they are level and secure. There is a stunning architectural range including concrete looking tiles and even a marble. Carrara is the most expensive fit out choice but number one of designers, xlite have a tile which would tile tour bath front in one piece as would your side and rear wall, in around two sheets! Contact them, then all you need to do is replace a vanity, or I would have a joiner come out to quote on hand laminating the top onsite. Or consider just replacing or building a base draw vanity beneath this while retaining the bench top, you could tile this also in the marble look for ultimate luxury, and go with a timber veneer looking product for the suspended drawers below. Floor tiling is the only thing to do then....See MoreBathroom paint and update HELP

Comments (5)Yes thank you for your thoughts. the room is 2.8 (with window) vs 3.4m. I do find it a bit annoying too as I don't like that you open the door and see straight away into the shower (though I'm certain the door would have a lock). I'm sure they lined the bath up to be with the window as visually that looks better, but then I find the space at the end annoying. I like the alternative drawings (I like three of them lots!) and I had been considering an drop in bath built wall to wall rather than a freestanding but also finding it frustrating to find a really nice supportive bath and there are less drop in baths than freestanding around at the moment which is a bit annoying. Thanks Anna for the picture, that helps as that looks good (though we would have more space at either end, 50cm) and I prefer the look of yours with some space but not as cavenous... I think I might have to have a talk with my husband as we really need to work out what to do!!...See MoreBathroom layout help needed!
Comments (30)Hi Elle, I suggest putting the washer and dryer where the vanity currently is and either having them under a bench so you have some flat space and perhaps a cupboard over or putting the dryer above the washer and using the adjacent space for a laundry tub and a hanging rail for drying things above. This would then allow you to have a wall hung vanity (usually not as deep as the laundry items so giving you more space) opposite the toilet with a big mirror over or a mirror wall cabinet semi-recessed into the wall if possible. The mirror will pick up the light from the window and make the room feel much bigger as will the floor space under the vanity. No changes to plumbing needed! Then just add a paint colour perhaps a shade of white or duck egg blue and you have a lovely bathroom/laundry. Best of luck with your renovations. Sue...See MoreKbtb
