Hello What beautiful Chesterfields. They have been expertly covered. The work is very professional with all that lovely seam work in the cloth. I think maybe pick out the grey/blue for the single seating. You may be able to find that colour in a Damask. Or, go for plain grey/blue in linen for a change of texture. The cushions could then be copper, grey/blue and turquoise. Throw in a zebra stripe for fun!! Pick out the turquoise then in lamp shade and decorations. An Oriental rug in those tones would be a fitting companion. Have fun.

Yes, our harsh Australian environment does hammer our external finishes but if exposed timber is coated with a good quality finish initially ( i recommend 4 coats minimum ) then an ongoing maintenance coat every couple of years, your timber can still look great many years down the track. People just need to understand if you want that beautiful natural timber look you have to put time in to maintain it.

I am going to disagree with siriuskey in that you can't use a laminex as a spashback when it is adjacent to a cooktop due to potential damage from the heat. The joint where it meets the benchtop can also be problemmatic where the vertical laminex meets the horizontal laminex. It can be coved, but if the benchtops have already been ordered it will be too late for this. However siriuskey is right about keeping it simple. I would suggest a tiled splashback that either matches the colour of the Pumice laminex cupboards, or works with the Laminex benchtop, so you are not introducing a new colour and it is fairly neutral. Have a look at Johnson Tiles Spectrum Range for a tile called "Linen" as a starting point, and compare it with your real life samples (not just digital images). I spent some time on the Dulux site earlier and came to a preliminary conclusion to use Domino on the back window frames (rather than pure black) and leave the door open to use basalt on the roof. In the mean time I could use Domino (or a lightened version of it) on highlights on the front of the house. Maybe just the very top of the gable frame?
