I think you need to stay neutral to ensure that your couch and room colour are cohesive. The odd colour out ... that pops out at me when I first look at your photo's is the silver around the wooden TV cabinet doors. I would suggest long term (if you are keeping that furniture) that you try to incorporate more of that colour into the room to add balance...... but back to the couch. I would go fawn / beige colour and then you can add colour back into the room with cream / dark brown tones in cushions and maybe a casual throw. Alternatively if you repaint the feature wall from brown to a darker shade of grey I would go with a medium grey couch which would also match in with the silver on the TV cabinet and then you could put a lovely textured silver / grey floor run between the couches and move your coffee table to the centre of the room / rug.

The most kid and pet friendly couch material is leather. So far our blue leather couch has coped with 18 years of toddlers falling asleep and weeing on it, cat vomit, Easter eggs melting between the cushions, spilt milk, spilt orange juice, spilt red wine, spilt coffee, and muddy dog paws. It just wipes clean. Our white leather chair is just as durable and is now 24 years old and just starting to look grubby. So go with beige or cream if you want. It would be a lovely choice, just make sure it is leather. Black or mid or dark brown would also look lovely with that beautiful rug but I think lighter colours would look fresher. Don't be at all scared to use light coloured leather.

Thanks everyone! Our tv is quite large probably about 50 inches, and this is the flooring and the room (not my furniture in the picture) Do you think I could have the beige couch with some white and brown cushions maybe, and then have a white tv unit and a wood coffee table of some sort with a white/brown or white/cream rug and lots of plants or will this look too busy? I’m not very good at putting these kinds of colours together- more of a grey kind of girl but we have the cream couch already!
