Craftsman as a style is more related to what Australians call Californian Bungalow. It originated in the British Arts and Crafts movement in the 1890s but was popularised in America by The Craftsman Magazine , founded in 1901 by Gustav Stickley.

It looks regency to me, because of the flanking columns and perhaps a bespoke craftsman made it to a clients order. If it's a mahogany veneer, is the inlay detail real or painted? I would think painted for this style. it is a nice serpentine, although rather than being of one style, it may just be as they wanted it. It was commonplace in the 40-50s to have quality furniture made to order as we now do with joinery. queen Anne was popular at his time, and you can see an influence there.

G'day Folks, My wife and I, like Jess (Strons) am a very proud owners of Nore Furniture, still used daily, and purchased in the late 70's! The collection includes a dining Table/dining and lounge chairs, coffee/lamp tables, and a Buffet. Interstingly, when we have visitors, the two Nore lounge chairs in the lounge are always taken before the modern lounge suite is used. (which annoys me, as the Nore furniture are the more comfortable by far) The remaining items are used in our Family/Ding area. Due to having constant use over the last 6 years with grand children, several of these magnificent pieces of Art are needing a little lift, re damaged finish. If your father does remember the stain details, I would appreciate his advice! The pride, skill, and love that went into this furniture still shines thru to this day! Cheers Dennis

I love them, but agree they're not Victorian. The architrave is certainly craftsman, similar to what you'd see in Californian Bungalows. Do you have a photo of the facade of your home? Sometimes when styles were merging you can even see some Edwardian elements, which may make it an option to comfortably merge the styles - risky but at least it's authentic?! Furthermore, sometimes if all your trims are painted the same colour, they can tie in, but I know what you mean. It's a toss up between having it in keeping by using replica Victorian architrave & doors; or keeping something that's quite beautiful and authentic and probably beautiful quality and hand made! I don't envy you! ; D
