I love my Asko dishwasher, great brand, it has many options, like water temp, top draw only if it's not full, fast wash, heavy wash, etc it actually uses less water for the normal wash than the full bowl on my sink. Our house is on all rain water so no need for the finish product to get rid of the calcium in the town supply that leaves the streaks. As someone with a spine problem, standing in one position doing the dishes is a real pain! We are building what should be our last house at present and I have designed our kitchen to have the dishwasher up off the floor with a draw under it, that way when packing and unpacking there is less of that half bend for my back. Just in passing I have a 'black belt' in dishwasher packing everything goes in and the kitchen is clean in jiffy! When I was working full time it was my sanity, I think a clean kitchen makes every home look like a clean home.

Head down to your whitegoods shop with a tapemeasure. Go for a front loader and check capacity vs external size - most are around 60cm deep x 60 wide x 85 high. Avoid being tempted by a washer and dryer in one unless you have no other drying option.. We've got a bosch and went for the biggest we could - simply because it makes washing smarter - two sets of sheets in the larger capacity washer vs one set in a smaller washer means your saving power, water and time. Do your homework with the brands and look at reviews. I've got a Bosch and then my Mum bought one when her Westinghouse gave up - both of us are very happy with them - if that helps.

that's a relief i thought you meant two sinks for the washing machine and a third for hands! my suggestions includes a separate laundry cupboard with either a drop in skinny tub with underbench washer or stacked washer and dryer with skinny tub and bifold door, a double walk in shower with grab rails and low down taps that can be reached from outside with an overhead and handheld shower for showering while seated...rotate and raise the toilet higher for a little more comfort and privacy and add a grab rail with integral toilet roll holder, wall hung vanity for easy access for extra towels, toilet paper and toiletries and so slippers, floor mats, waste bins and scales etc can be under the vanity out of the way when necessary, mirror doored wall cabinets and an extra shelf could be extended across over the top of the vanity and toilet for more counter area and there's just enough room for a small shower chair (used inside and out of the shower and much better and cheaper than fixed shower seat), several easy access locations for towels and don't forget clothes hooks on the back of the door

Hi Souzette, Front loaders look great but can be a pain, We still like to soak things in the sink and getting anything like a sheet into the machine if it's not next to the sink becomes messy, so seeing that we try to avoid using the dryer we have the washer next to the sink Our preferred way to dry things most of the year is on the clothes line or on the retractable line we have above the bench and in front of the window But then we all do things differently, and you live in a colder area.
